Quite simply the best vacuum cleaner on the market for domestic use. Although it may be a bit heavy for some the Henry is a robust efficient bit of kit. Made by Numatic in Chard, Somerset, purchasing one of these will also help what is left of the UK's manufacturing industry.
The overall design hasn't altered in years which says something about the quality and reliability of this cleaner. The Henry can be used bagless or bags can be purchased separately and the bags are widely available in local shops and also the DIY chains. We pay £6.50 for 10. Probably the only negative point is that Henry is quite heavy. He rolls along quite easily on his wheels but may be a bit cumbersome to carry for some people.
The power cord is wound into the unit lid and is fully retractable. However for longer duration uses it is a good idea to unwind the whole cable to avoid overheating. The cable length is about 5 metres in total and I can manage all 3 floors of our house from a ground floor socket. As well as the on/off switch Heenry also has a Hi/Lo power option. Selecting Lo reduces the operation to 60% power and also reduces the noise level.
The flexible pick up tube is quite long on its own and reach is extended with a couple of sections of rigid metal tubing and also a metal elbow section giving an overall reach of about 2 metres. A full complement of tools are also provided. The main fitting has two settings for carpet or hard surfaces. The other tools are for narrow gaps, furniture and a smaller version of the main fitting for stairs.
People who hate vacuuming might even feel different when they see Henry's smiling face awaiting them. My son loves Henry and often goes off to cuddle him and an added bonus was the free Henry beachball we got when we purchased our last unit.. My son plays with this ball when he's not playing with the vacuum cleaner! I really should buy him some real toys!!
As long as you unwind the cable when needed, don't pick up liquids and are aware of its weight this vacuum should give you years of trouble free cleaning.
