Sickness is a natural and common part of childhood as it takes more than eight years for a child’s immune system to fully develop, making children particularly susceptible to illness. When your child is suffering from pain or fever it can be upsetting and stressful for both of you. There are effective non-prescription medicines available like Nurofen for Children, which is formulated especially for children and easy for them to take. What is Nurofen? Nurofen for Children is a colour free, sugar free suspension available in a pleasant orange flavour. Nurofen for Children can be given to ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none

Up all night baby screaming with her teething, it was driving me crazy. I had tried Calpol but it didn’t really work so I went to see my local chemist and spoke to them about it. They suggested that I try the Nurofen for children, so I did. That night I wasn’t woke up once, the screaming in the day only happened when the Nurofen wore off and she was a lot happier. It doesn’t taste horrible like some children’s medicine you can buy (I tried some); it has a pleasant orange taste to it. It comes with a double ended spoon with a 5ml and a 2.5 ml dosage on each end. It is a cream/yellow colour and ... more

My Daughter injured her elbow when she was one and a half. She had been holding my hand when she tripped and as she fell her body twisted round causing the tendons and ligaments in her right arm to stretch and her upper and lower arm to be dislocated (or pulled) at the elbow. As you can imagine this caused her extreme pain followed by a trip to A&E (god I hate that place). Following an x-ray they attempted to put her elbow back in place, This caused her excessive pain, however they were unable to put her elbow back in place at that time so she was given a sling and a bottle of Nurofen for ... more

Last Friday Roy finished school for half term. Anyone who may be reading this and wondering who Roy is,well he is my six year old grandson who we look after every afternoon when he comes home from school,as his mom works. Anyway,as I said his grandad picked him up Friday and he has ten days off school. As soon as he arrived home we knew he was unwell and as he would be staying with us for the duration of the holidays. We thought we had better get him some medicine for his awful cold and headache, plus he sounded as if his throat was Sore. His granddad asked the local chemist what he recommended ... more

Advantages Advantages Sugar Free, not overwhelming taste, Small doses

Disadvantages Disadvantages Bottle comes with silly lid if not using syringe.

I feel i should throw my thoughts in on this topic, as my son is incredibly persistent when it comes to not taking any medecine when he's ill. I should also mention that i believe that all the nurofen for children range are now sugar free, so this should not be a concern. There are two forms as i can find of Nurofen for children. There's the standard bottle, which come with a crazy plastic thing in the top to make it easy to use a syringe to measure the correct dosage (best thing to do is remove this if you are planning on using a spoon). Then there are the new sachets. I think you get about ... more
