Just pop and go!
Advantages: weight, easy to use, comfortable Disadvantages: price and placed on floor
Having a new baby was shock enough but then the weight of other travel cots kicked in.. In my opinion this lightweight, easy to assemble and practical little cot was a real find. Advantages: Size and weight It came from a personal recommendation and I was convinced when i saw it in the shop. Firstly, it was light. Other travel cots claimed to be portable but for a small framed person like me I personally found them very heavy and cumbersome to carry. ... ...not break the luggage allowance. Advantages: Portability and Practicality If you need something to take on public transport and then holiday, this has to be a really good bet. The mesh covering acts as an insect/mosquito net and surrounds the baby so that no 'nasties' can get in. The mattress is removable and washable, although you might want to get5 an extra piece of foam cut to give a bit of extra padding. My baby found it snug and comfortable ...

Grobags Aren't Just For Tomatoes.
Advantages: Provides a safe warm sleeping environment. Disadvantages: They don't make an adult version for me.
...and I picked up a Grobag that was only £2! I only bought it because it was a bargain and I didn't actually think I would use it. I had never heard of them or seen them before. After I had washed it I stored it away, it didn't get used until one day when my son's blankets were being washed I put him into the Grobag and it fitted him snugly and he looked comfortable in it. He slept in it happily and was warm enough when he got up so I decided to continue ... ...temperature rooms 16C-20C) Each grobag comes with a room thermometer which also has an indicator along side it telling you which would be the most suitable tog bag to use at certain temperatures. We generally use a 2.5 tog for most of the year and just change the amount of clothing that my son is wearing underneath, and only when it is very hot we then use the 1.0 tog version. It is a good idea to have two grobags as when one is being washed you ...

Does Grobag have swaddling wrapped up? Maybe!
Advantages: Lovely light material Disadvantages: Luxury item
...with the thermometers, the special Grobag swaddling whatsits are an opportunity for the Grobag empire to persuade you to part with even more of your money to buy lovely, stylish versions of things you can buy cheaper elsewhere but don't want to by the time you see the Grobag version!
Swaddling is a very old-fashioned idea (ask your granny) - the theory is that if your baby is feeling uncertain/unhappy, it can be soothed by being wrapped up tightly ... ...a normal blanket.
The Grobag swaddling whatsit is a piece of thin, stretchy material (with a cute pattern on, of course) that lets you easily wrap your baby (feet first, using the little flap of material, then one long side of the material, tuck it in neatly, then take the other side and tuck it under the baby). We tried the swaddling route a few times and it was useful on a few occasions. I also swaddled him a couple of times to try to keep his ...

Ultra lightweight pop up travel cot
Advantages: lightweight, easy to use, versatile Disadvantages: zip noise could wake a lightly sleeping baby
We bought this travel cot before the arrival of our own little one, as we had friends flying over to visit us with their one year old and they didn't have space in their luggage for their own (traditional) travel cot. The cot has an RRP of £90 but is available from some online retailers for £65.
Setting up the NestEgg
The NestEgg was extremely easy to set up - it literally popped out of the bag! There is a self inflating mattress that blows ... ...then close the valve to trap the air inside. I tried to insert the mattress in the base fully inflated, which was rather awkward, but then noticed there would still be access to the valve from outside the base, so I let some air out and it was much easier!
Disassembling At 5 months pregnant and with a bad back, I was still able to put the NestEgg away without difficulty. There are written instructions on the carry bag for twisting it up, but ...
