Everything you need
Advantages: Cheap, easy to use. Disadvantages: sometimes a bit too much interference
I didnt want to splash out too much on a baby monitor and this was cheap at £20.
It can be battery or mains operated and so is fully portable, the base unit has a nightlight on it although I rarely us that feature.
It has two channels so you can swop if you neighbours are using the same channel as you - much like cordless phones.
I find that you can get interference if either of the units are to close to mobiles, cordless phones or radios etc ... ...the drunks passing by in the street 2 floors down. We have the monitor across the room from the cot and it still picks up all of my sons little snuffles, sometimes it sounds like he is being very noisy but when I go to check on him he is hardly making any sound at all.
The circle of lights light up with noise so if you are watching a noisy TV programme you can still be alerted when your baby is crying. There is also an adjustable volume control, ...

Great Monitor
Advantages: great picture night and day Disadvantages: you need to use automute otherwise the background noise is loud
...cats are memorised by it! Lindam cleverly built in an "Automute" and VOX feature to help this problem, the Automute mutes the monitor until a certain level of baby noise is present and then turns it on so that you can hear the baby, if the baby's just stirring in her sleep it will then re-mute itself, this is a great feature for the nightime - we tried sleeping through the white noise and failed miserably... The VOX feature is the same as the "Automute" ... ...the speaker, so when the baby makes a noise it turns the screen on aswell as the speaker - This is VERY helpful for those of you who sleep in the dark and the glaring screen constantly on keeps you awake. The camera unit itself is solidly built and aesthetically pleasing with some useful little details such as the optional stars lights on the side. The only downsides we found where very very minor but bear a quick mention: 1) The large red light ...

Excellent monitor
Advantages: great clear picture Disadvantages: bulky parents unit, interferes with wifi
This is am excellent baby video monitor with a very clear picture, especially the night picture which works perfectly well even when the baby's room is completely dark. A good feature is that you can turn off the display screen (say when sleeping yourself) but turn it on again just by touching the top.
The only drawback is that the parent unit is quite bulky. It is portable though, but not small enough to carry about with you as you do tasks, but ...

Bumbo Seat - Useful for about 4 weeks
Advantages: Good for getting them to sit up in the in-between stage before they can do it themselves Disadvantages: Bulky, not used for long
...heard great things about these Bumbo Seats & I'm sure for some people they are great but we found it very different to others so thought I would let you know...
We purchased ours from Mothercare along with a tray which fits onto the seat, it was £36.99. It comes in various colours (blue, pink & red) & is quite heavy. The bumbo basically has a shape of a babies/young childs bottom in it so they can sit in & be comfortable...it encourages them to ... ...& then crawling so the bumbo became redundant...we used it for nearly 3 months & even then it wasn't every day or often really. We thought it would be useful to take to peoples houses but it wasn't really transportable in a nice way, no carrier bag was big enough, it doesn't fold so you were carrying something that on the underneath resembles a 'pigs bottom' shape! :-) & the tray was taken seperately as sometimes it would fall off or it just made ...

RAinforest baby swing - every mum should have one !!
Advantages: spinning animals, swinging movements, soothing music. Disadvantages: may come of floor on highest setting slightly.
This is a great swing that sooths any baby that goes in it. I have two baby cousins who as soon as you put them in this swing they are instantly quiet and are sleeping in minutes.
It comes with a little song and outdoor sounds. It has about 6 different swinging motions and allows your baby to swing from side to side or front to back. There are little rainforest animals at the top and turn round along to the song. But make sure you have plenty of ... ...is playing but there animals are just hanging there, believe me iv been there and it's loud !!
It has a well padded seat so your baby can lounge back while having a little swing listening to there music and watching there furry friends !!
It folds away for easy storage and is suitable from birth. The only thing i could say to critacise this is if you do set the swing to it's highest it does come of the floor a little bit, but not anough to tip ...
