Advantages 300 free texts! Free Sim card!

Disadvantages Running out of free texts!

I've had this Sim card for about 2 years now (I think), and wouldn't consider changing it.

The basic deal is that you top up your account each month with a minimum of £10, and you get 300 texts free. The £10 credit doesn't have to used, so if you never made any calls, or extra texts, then your credit would just continue mounting each month.

You can buy these Sim cards from o2.co.uk, or an 02 shop. They are also usually available on Ebay. They usually cost £9.99, and will obviously work in any 02 phone, or any unlocked phone. Every so often 02 seem to do promos on these cards, about 6 months ago you could get 6 cards for free on line. This is where most of them come from on Ebay (I was guilty of this myself!!).

HOWEVER, at present the Sim cards are FREE at o2.co.uk, so go and grab one!

I am a bit of a textaholic, and have only ever run out of free texts once. It is annoying when this happens, as you realise what an expensive habit it could be. As it is I am gettign £30 worth of free texring. What a bargain.

Making calls can be a little expensive, as with most Pay-As-You-Go tariffs:

Calling another mobile = 40p a min
Calling an 02 mobile or a landline = 25p Peak times, 2p off peak.

You can change the tafiff by calling o2, so that you get 100 free mins and 100 free texts instead.

I find I have great network coverage everywhere, and never experience the annoying "no signal".

There are cheats that you can do, so that you don't need to top up the credit each month, which I obviously won't divulge here, but as far as I am aware, it isn't actually illegal, just using a loophole in o2's systems.

This sim card isn't great for people who make a lot of calls, on the whole a contract is better for that. However for us text mad people, I think its great, and saves loads of money.

Just so everyone knows what gemax2 wrote isn't quite correct. There is no sneaky trick. You can only get 3oo free texts, so when you run out you need to wait for the month to end, before getting your new free texts. This date never changes and is set by the date that you first topped up (it is called your anniversary date)
