On receiving this mobile phone just over a year ago, i was quite excited about using the camera, taking pictures of my friends, recording videos...the phones special features were far better than any that my mates had.
For the first month or so, the phone was a god send. I could receive polyphonic ringtones, play and download Java Games, take pictures, record motion and do the obvious texting and ringing. However, things started to take a turn.
I don't know when exactly the phone started breaking, but it began with just shutting down and crashing...this particularly happened after i had played a game and flipped the phone back together. Then i started noticing more things going wrong.
Eventually, the sound broke and i could only get a vibration - the sound has still broken and has never come back to me. After the sound had broke on the phone, i noticed that it was become more and more common for the phone to freeze and shutdown. However, when i tried to turn the phone on, it took an awful long time to load, then a long time to read the SIM - again this still hasn't changed.
I wanted to change my phone after this, so my family and i made a trip to the local 02 store in Manchester City Centre. They told me i could get an upgrade to another O2 phone - but i didnt like them!! I ended up sticking with the phone because we didn't have the right documents needed to upgrade the phone anyway.
So, time went on and i had to get used to the phone....but an annoying occurance began to be noticed by my friends....the flashing lights that signal when i receive a message or a call.....WOULDN'T STOP FLASHING!!!!!!! This obviously wasted battery and made my head spin because of the flashing, multi coloured, cheap, disco coloured lights.
I was and still am impressed with the camera quality, the phone genuinely holds the clearest and best image quality ive ever seen on a camera phone to this date. The quality is still good....even though the actual camera is hanging on by a little wire.
The games no longer load, the sound is still not working, the camera is falling off, i cant turn it the phone off without taking out the battery and it freezes and shuts down when it feels like it....writing text messages is slow and waiting for the motion recorder to load seems like a lifetime. I can't complain with the colour screen and graphics and the phone is quite outdated now. BUT, to say ive had the phone only a year, i have come across so many problems right from the word go..i question whether i should have bothered getting the phone after all.
Being on contract, i got the phone as a free upgrade...but it was quite an expensive phone when it was first released in the shops. I have recently ordered a new O2 phone - O2 X3. Who knows what this will be like? Who knows why i ordered another 02 phone - free upgrade again i suppose.
But i can say that i can't wait to get RID of the phone that i have now....my new upgrade should be delivered soon and i have my fingers crossed that it will be a much better phone. The 02 X1 is an awful excuse of a phone and i havent said anything bad in any reviews yet, but i feel like i have to murder the phone in this review. It has been rubbish and shutdown on me many times when i was texting important people at important times in my life - therefore losing the text and having to re-write it. A little problem i know, but a total pain in the bum and really really annoying.
BOOOOO to the O2 X1 - i never want to see you again.
