Firstly it is a great phone - easy to use touchscreen or stylus operation, good sound quality. The contacts list is easy to use, allowing for storge of huge amounts of data per person.
I can acces smy POP3 emails with ease anywhere through the GPRS service from o2, that works very well, not as slow as you might think. It has full WiFi connectivity - allowing you to connect to any wireless network. As I have said before I have a wireless broadband connection in my house, and connecting the xda to it was instant, no messing with settings or anything. This will work the same in airports, trainstations, cafe's etc, anywhere that has a WIFi connection. It is 520Mhz processing speed, which is faster that all current PDA's! (Intel PXA272 - 520MHz)- 128mb of SDRAM, 128mb of FLASH and 59mb of internal in built in memory.., and an expansion slot(SD)
The MP3 player is wicked, has Windows media player, you can get Realplayer or Winamp if they tickle your fancy as well. The number of applications and games that are out there for free is quite amazing, I even use the xda to control my entire tv end entertainment centre using the remote control facility.

The screen is nice and large, 65k colours, (65K Colours, 3.5", 240x320) which is actually the most limiting part of the xda, but makes very little difference. Lots of settings and programs to fiddle around with to pass the time, works just like any other Microsoft operating system, so feels good from the start. You can do work within Microsoft Word, or even Excel - Microsoft money is availible in the internet also.
A cradle is supplied with the phone, the phone slots in to it, but I must say it's not the best bit of the kit, the phone just does not clips in quite right...I can see that breaking in the future...oh and another thing, the phone rattles a little but I guess that is the vibration device or something. The cradle plugs into your PC via a USB port and Active Sync program automatically starts up and connects...this allows you to transfer and sync files very easily.
This phone/pda/pocket PC is useful for anyone, from just a phone user to a businessman. Has everything you could possible need. The battery works for days, using the WIFI does eat battery though, but you don't have to have it on all the time anyway. It is quick and easy to charge. Battery is 1300mAH The phone is nice to hold, a good weight with a metal shell, so it just feels well made. "Talktime up to 4 hours Voice standby up to 170 hours DA usage up to 15 hours"
Input - The stylus is very easy to use, the touchscreeen responds very well, it has a transcriber so that you can write in your handwriting and it will change it into text, ideal when you are writing emails or texts.
If there is anything you want to know extra about this phone please leave me a message in my guestbook, I am happy to help if you have any probs etc. I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
Advantages: Superb at what it does Disadvantages: Has a fragile and expensive flaw... as does the operator!
...I even looked at. And O2 were, too. Decent tariffs and problem free custom up until now. But like with any customer orientated company, you find out how good they really are when you have a problem.
And now I know!
Cheers,
Schneckster
PS. Not sure why it asked for "Quality of Shave". I answered poor because I didn't think it'd cope with a wet shave on a bleary eyed, cold monday morning!!! LOL ...

Advantages: All In One Media Centre, small and affordable. Disadvantages: Only purchased with contract from O2.
If your into your music, video, pictures... want a phone, and want to check emails on the go then you've got a wonderful piece of kit here.
This allows to you store virtually unlimited numbers, come with a 400Mhz processor, and offers a real plus with a SD card slot for expansion, many pda's lose out when they limit what you can store and do with the pda, but this is superb.
Xda 2 I'm afraid can only be purchased from a stocker like O2, who offer ... ...with the smaller ones, but I got it when it first came out at a massive £399 with a £40/month contract, alot of money to fork out, but after a year and half I've had no troubles, upgraded to second version of OS, and have added more space with SD card.
I'm finding new features including these recently...
- I can watch DVD's on the Pda
- I can download from the internet
- I can chat on MSN
- I get 100k free per day to browse the internet
- I ...

Advantages: It Has/Is PDA, Phone, Windows Mobile 2003, Wifi, Bluetooth Disadvantages: Battery Could Be Better
This is an excellent Mobile Phone/PDA
The PDA aspect of this device can pretty much handle anything you can throw at it with its 128mb ram and 500+mhz processor.
The 3.5" screen is perfect for watching movies on the go (if your memory card is large enough)
The internal 128Mb persistent storage is also handy for what ever you want to store on it (personally I use it for mp3s and backups)
Features and opinions
IrDA - I have only ever used this ... ...is slow IR on the device)
Bluetooth - I Have NEVER had a problem with the Bluetooth on this device it has always been reliable and fast no matter what i have connected it to (Phones, PCs, Printers etc..)
WIFI - The range for this is superb fast and reliable as with Bluetooth I have never had a problem with this apart from the fact that using wifi reduces battery life ALOT
Phone - The phone aspect of this PDA is not as good as it could have been ...

...as play so the best O2 could offer me was the very latest XDA IIi. As I opened the pack I was struck by the gleaming sophistication of this device and could not wait to begin testing it. Unfortunately it was not long after starting it that the cracks began to emerge. When it was working it was good and really helped with PDF viewing for my work but it was so frustrating to return to the device to make a call and find it had hung. The issue with these XDAs/PDAs is that they do not have a hard drive so everything new has to be loaded directly into RAM. This means if corruption occurs ...

Advantages: Fast processor, impressive camera, numerous features Disadvantages: huge when in carry case
The O2 Xda IIi isn't a revolutionary addition to o2's smartphone lines, but with a better processor and simple interface it's still a very appealing device. The XDA IIi continues the XDA ranges history of being well engineered and packed with features that make it the perfect mobile office, camera, phone, e-mail, web-browser and just about everything else. Advantages: Adapters to charge with most phone chargers, great audio Disadvantages: lots of small parts, can be fiddly
and motorola phones. - all of these clip to the bottom of the pen tube.
The operating button is large and clear, the battery lasts me about 2 working days, which is very acceptable. Very easy to pair, all you do is start with the headset turned off, hold down the power button for about 7 seconds until the operating light flashes red and blue alternately.
set your phone to search for it, when it finds it enter the passcode which is a standard 0000 (zeros) the unit detects an incoming call very quickly, even with my grotty o2XDAIIi!
THe audio quality is excellent and people I have spoken to assume that I am on a landline.
in all, I am very pleased with this headset. I am especially impressed that I can charge with so many adapters or a battery, this has been helpful at least once so far. ...
Advantages: Battery life quite good, well built Disadvantages: small screen, poor phone reception
Background:
The company I work for distributes my jobs to the field via a PDA phone.
This system was introduced last February when we started out using the disastrously poor quality O2XDAIIi pda phone, which suffers badly from poor battery life and an overwhelming aptitude to crash several times a day.
In an attempt to improve the situation the company is trialling a couple of new handsets, one of which is the HP IPaq.
It arrived on Friday so I charged it up to put it through its paces.
I was a bit disappointed in the screen size, it is about two thirds of the size of the XDA and it is hard enough to work on that one.
The overall feel of the PDA is good, it feels solid but I can't yet tell you how it responds to being bounced off the floor.
The Wireless function works well enough but it was a let down to ...
