Advantages: I left it in a Taxi Disadvantages: Awful camera, Dubious build quality, Weighs more than a small pet, As stable as Baghdad
When I bought this phone, I kind of thought I could use it for writing while I was out and about on my travels. I assumed that it could be a great alternative to carrying around a heavy laptop.
It is now my opinion that having a mobile powered by Micro$oft Windows is a little bit like having sat-nav on a shopping trolley.
It is the first phone I've ever had that needs rebooting a couple of times a day. You can run lots ... ...doesn't tell you which ones are running unless you go into Start Settings > System > Memory (imagine your grandad doing this) so after a little while you could have so many programs going at the same time that the whole thing grinds to a halt. You can get around this by downloading a free bit of software called Magic Button, but this causes the phone to crash all by itself, so isn't recommended.

It is the first phone I've ever had that needs rebooting a couple of times a day. You can run lots of applications on it at the same time but it doesn't tell you which ones are running unless you go into Start Settings > System > Memory (imagine your grandad doing this) so after a little while you could have so many programs going at the same time that the whole thing grinds to a halt. Anything you want to do on it, there are an amazing array of complex options to configure. I'm a Microsoft Certified Professional, and feel like I need to go on another course to learn how to work the camera on this thing. A mass of buttons clutter the large touch screen looking like the inside of the space shuttle, and when you actually take a picture it looks like Night Trap on the Mega CD.
Every now and then it will connect itself to the internet. Quite often I turn it on and found that it has gone onto Ciao via the mobile web and has been on there for about 4 hours, costing me a small fortune. I have no idea how or why it does this and I have even less of an idea how to stop it.
Sometimes, options are impossible to select without using the built in stylus. So, when I get a simple text message, I have to look like a yuppy poking away at the screen as if I'm making some note about the latest takeover bid. You need to use the stylus for navigation, and then open the dubiously un-robust slide out keyboard to do anything else. There is absolutely nothing you can do with this phone using only one hand, so if you only have one, don't buy it.
The phone itself is about the size of a small wardrobe. The last time I had a phone this big, Jennifer Anniston was cute, and Star Wars had no CGI in it.
The one thing this phone does worst of all, is make phone calls. Due to the lack of a real keypad, I have to use my sausage digits to mash the touch screen with all the finesse of an elephant with tourettes.
It was a great day when I left this phone in a taxi and had to go back to my smaller, more responsive and user friendly 3310.
Advantages: Reliable, 3G and Wireless with office package and outlook sync Disadvantages: Thirsty processor reduces battery life to about 2 days.
...an upgrade to replace my O2 XDA Mini S. Let me begin by describing the cons of the device: 1) At 2.0 Megapixels the camera is woefully inadequate
2) Whilst Running Windows Mobile 6.0, I am still unable to view online video, like BBC news broadcasts or youtube
3) With all functions running (bluetooth wireless etc) the battery lasts about 48hrs maximum.
4) I have noticed the occasional 'slowdown' as a result of running several programmes at once. ... ...of its own as to how long you need to hold it down before the screen lights up. But enough of all this negativity. In comparison to my mini s it is very much the next generation. For starters it features a 400MHz processor and I am old enough to remember high spec laptops having a similar speed. The mini SD port has allowed me to expand the limited 50Mb interal storage to 1Gb, which provides me with enough space for work documents etc. This phone ...

Advantages: Full Keyboard, Wi-Fi, Fast processor Disadvantages: Bulky
...up from the rather fatastic O2 XDA mini S which has served me well for over a year. There are many smartphones on the market at the present time and the major let down with most is the lack of a decent keyboard forcing users to enter data using the stylus and touch screen method. The XDA Trion, like the mini-s before solves this with a rather nifty slide out keyboard which also automatically changes the screen orientation to landscape. Adjustable ... ...conditions and the 400Mhz CPU keeps things ticking along nicely. Windows mobile 5 is wonderfully easy to use compared to earlier editions and the included MS Word and Excel are useful as is the ability to play Solitaire on the move. All forms of connectivity are available, including Wi-Fi. A great purchase although it is a bit bulky and not particularly light, this is definately a real alternative (In my opinion better choice) to the new Blackberries. ...

The O2 XDA Trion is a Windows smartphone based on the HTC Hermes handset. It is yet another result of a long collaboration between O2 and HTC, Roughly speaking, the O2 XDA Trion is a step up from the O2 XDA Mini S (based on the HTC Wizard). It has a 240x320 pixel display in 65,000 colours, a 2 megapixel main camera with a secondary camera for video calling, 64Mb of internal memory, Bluetooth 2.0 and Wireless LAN support and a 400MHz processor (possibly an ARM-based Samsung S3C2440). There's a slide-out keyboard too (the photograph is of a German QWERTZ keyboard). The weight is not known, but we anticipate that it will be about 160 grams. We believe that the Hermes used microSD expandable memory.
