Phones of the future dont actually seem to be getting smaller at all. The Orbit is one of the phone 'computers' which seem to be becoming more and more popular. The Orbit sure looks nice but it is still very bulky. There is lots going on inside and the orbit is bursting from the seems but is there too much???
Features;
Touchscreen; very responsive, you can control with a 'touch pen' or with your finger. Howevr you do make more mistakes with your finger!! Touchscreen is not helpfull for when you are trying to dial a number on the move. Use voice dialling!! There is also a roller ball included but you will find yourself not using it very much!
2.8 Inch TFT LCD Colour Touch Screen - high quality, the screen is bright and has good detail. Brightness can be controlled for battery saving!!
Bluetooth™ Technology; fast way to send pictures and other files wirelessly.
Direct Push Email; send emails
2 Megapixel Camera; good camera capable of taking video, no flash, there is different camera modes though
GPS Satellite Navigation Receiver; upgrades avaliable; Copilot can be used for walking or driving very accurate. If you take a wrong turn will correct you!!
MSN mobile; log in, very easy to use. Esay to send messages or read emails.
Voice speed dial; quick way to dial, very responsive Internet sharing, very fast
Radio 6 preset channels; good to listen too when bored, although can sometimes pick up static
'mini' microsoft programs such as; Windows Media (view pictures and video) Excel mobile (use formulaes to work out equations) Word Mobile (write documents) Power point mobile (create slides)
all mobile programs contain a transcriber so you can write in your own hand writing!! Very neat!!StandardGames; Bubble breaker (fun game to waste time with) Solitare (different modes of play)
The O2 XDA Orbit is 16.8 mm in depth, 58 mm wide & 108 mm in length which is pretty small for a smratphone but honestly I would advise to buy something a lot smaller!!
Memory & Talk Time; 128 Mbytes Memory plus 64 Mbytes Mini SD™ Memory Card, 5 Hours Talk Time, 200 Hours Standby
I recently went on a ski trip to Tonale Italy, I have to admit this phone did perform very well. I did expect it to freeze up on the peaks but it did well and I managed to take some good pictures with the camera. I made long range calls, home without any static or break up even though I was in the middle of no where!! To my previous question.... Yes the main flaw; Overcomplicating the desgin has made this machine anti-user friendly I think the designers should take the operating systemsb ack to the drawing board and made a lot easier to use in my personal opinion. The Orbit sures has potential though but it takes time to figure out how to use it and the operating manual isn't particulaly helpfull either. Apart from its bulky size and the fact there is too much going on at one time, this phone performs well, a lot of the phone needs to be made more user freindly but it looks very nice and does what it is meant to do, sometimes not very well, but it does do them!!! Im sorry I can't give a price for this phone as it varies to greatly!!!
