Advantages: Great thermal conductor
Disadvantages: Expensive, hard to spread

...is applied properly though, it is well worth buying some AS5. I moved from a generic compound (the kinda white stuff you buy at Maplins) to AS5, and found that using exactly the same cooling setup my temperatures dropped by 3C at idle and 6C at load! I have read about something called Shin Etsu, which supposedly can drop load temperatures by 8C, but at double the price I didn't think that 2C was worth it. Notes Please note that whatever is said, it is NOT true that AS5 is extremely electrically conductive. If you get some on the pins of your CPU, just use some TIM Remover or some pure alchol and a paint brush and the CPU should be fine! Also, temperatures generally decrease the longer the TIM has been applied for, so if there is not much change try running a program or programs such as Prime95, which will keep your CPU at 100% - this helps... ...is specifically used because it is very efficient at transferring heat from the processor onto the heatsink. The compound has many tiny thermally conductive particles mixed into it, and so is more effective at transferring the heat then air is. Air is going to be common between the heatsink and processor, unless they are both completely flat, which is impossible to be sure of really, unless you 'lap' your heatsink (basically polish it down as much as possible). Though the processor and heatsink may look flat to the human eye, under a microscope they won't be, so they won't be in perfect contact with each over. This will mean tiny air pockets will be present, which is why it's best to put something in-between the two components - which is why we use the heatsink compound. ...With dual-channel ram quickly becoming the norm in all desktop PC's today it is now common for manufactures to market dual-channel memory kits. Having recently purchased the OCZ Gold twin kit and being a big gamer I did notice an increase in FPS "Frames Per Second" and an overall improvement in most of my daily applications like Office, Adobe Photoshop, and also Dreamweaver. I also like the overall design of the ram the XTC or "Xtreme Thermal Convection" the honey combed heat spreader is supposed to increase air flow to the ram chips and allow better heat dissipation when running memory intensive programs. The only hiccup I had with the ram was that after I installed it it was showing as single channel instead of dual channel this was easily solved by reading the motherboard manual and locating the right ram slots ont he motherboard...
