Advantages: Quite cheap to run with ok output Disadvantages: Not suited for heavy work
...RRP: £149.
One sector of the printing market that Oki covers arguably better than anyone else is the entry-level page printer, with the OkiPage 8W Lite being a good example. This is an LED printer, rather than a laser printer. The difference to the end-user is pretty much irrelevant, though; to all intents and purposes this unit operates just like a laser, with separate toner cartridge and fuser drum.
With a top resolution of 600pi, the OkiPage 8W Lite is quoted as having a maximum print speed of 8 pages per minute. Inevitably, though, it only achieves this in low resolution mode, with limited text on the page.
This is not a machine designed for a particularly high duty cycle. The toner cartridge is good for around 1,500 pages of A4 at 5% density, while the drum unit will last for around 10,000 pages. With a printer life of 30...

Advantages: Compact, easy to use, excellent price, printing in DOS and Windows, high speed Disadvantages: Prints need more contrast and sharpness, none 600 dpi (smoothing), short life of toner cartridge
...-up of parameters of printing under DOS.
Quality of prints was enough good. Okidata Okipage 8w not bad has printing the text. The truth, printing with optimum quality the numerals looks greasier, than on remaining listings. That results to merge of numerals in the small-sized text. Besides on them the poorly expressed nonuniformity of fill of homogeneous areas is appreciable. Graphics prints were received some dark and insufficiently contrast. The limited amount of reproduced halftones inevitably attracts gradualness on gradient flood fillings.
At present LED technology yet can not on equal compete with laser in the field of quality of received images. Analyzing test prints, I came to a conclusion, that the actual resolution of this printer actually is equal 300 dpi, and for higher resolution the special technology of smoothing is used. Nevertheless...

Advantages: Print quality is great Disadvantages: Would be good if it came with a duplex
...Ok cards on the table time. I have a real thing about Oki printers, they are well made, solid reliable printers, but the main bonus is there print quality, it really is first class.
If you are looking for a quality print at a reasonable cost Oki is the place to start, and the Oki C 5650n is no exception.
This printer is a good workgroup printer, it is network ready, however a duplex would be nice.
The Oki C 5650n would be the Rolls-Royce of home printers, more than enough for a small or medium office.
In a larger office I would keep it for those special prints where you want to impress someone.
I would recommend the Oki C 5650n to anyone looking, if your not sure go and get one demostrated, I think you'll be impressed....

Having suddenly started generating a lot of monochrome output I decided to take the pressure off my existing photoprinter - especially as the price per page is in excess of 30p.
I did a bit of research and ended up with this one that fit my needs - I... more
When Oki released their colour printers a few years ago the print results were mediocre to say the least. Colour lasers had cleaner sharper lines and the finish was simply better.
In the past couple of years Oki have refined their technology and... more
