I go through fits and starts when it comes to reading magazines. Long gone though, are the days of reading “Woman” or “Woman’s Own”, which were practically the only available women’s magazines printed at one time.

The issue I have spread out on my desk has 130 pages and retails at £2.
The most appealing thing about the magazine is it’s glossy, thick pages. So many of the magazines currently on sale, are produced cheaply and this is reflected in the quality of the paper used. “OK” is large, glossy and shouts “quality”!
Also contained with each issue of “OK” is another magazine: “Hot Stars”, which is also glossy, and contains gossip packed reading material.
The front page of the magazine has pictures of the celebrities contained within the issue, each picture accompanied by a headline, which will give the consumer a guideline to the story contained in the magazine. The issue I have is dominated by a picture of Victoria Beckham, and promises the reader a sneak exclusive preview of her new image.
The contents of the magazine are set out on the first page, containing the title of the piece, together with the page number and more often than not, s small piece about the article itself.
“OK” is very similar to “Hello” in that the main stories in the magazine, are heavily interspersed with large photographs of the celebrity in question. The magazine will normally feature at least one wedding, and this issue is no exception. There is a five page spread on the recent marriage of Ulrika Jonsson and Lance Gerrard-Wright, together with an enormous ten page spread, devoted to Big Brother “celebrities”, Sophie Pritchard and Lee Davey, who featured in the series last year. “OK” and “Hello” both pay celebrities extortionate amounts of money to cover their weddings, and some say this is the curse for the marriage. The Ulrikka story focuses on her meeting Mr. Wright, accompanied by the story of the wedding day.
There are a number of one page stories in the magazine, but these still have plenty of photographs of the people involved, such as a story about Michelle Heaton of Liberty X, and her less than famous boyfriend Andy Scott Lee, who visited a tattoo parlour recently. For the celebrity snoopers amongst us, “OK” gives us snippets about the lives of the stars, such as a series of pictures depicting Kym Marsh and her nearly estranged already husband Jack Ryder, looking full of doom and gloom, on a recent shopping trip. On a lighter note, there is a small story about Jessie Wallace, who plays Kat Slater in “Eastenders”, who has recently become engaged to a policeman.
Of course, there has to be a bit of tackiness in a magazine, and the story in this issue of “OK” is about Jordan appearing in an episode of “Footballers Wives”. Three pages are devoted to a day on the film set, accompanied by pictures of Jordan, bursting out of a small sun dress. Not for the faint hearted.
In each issue, there is normally an article revolving around a popular TV programme or series, and in this issue, it is the turn of “Pop Idol”, which has recently exploded back onto our TV screens. The article tells the story of the weird and wonderful contestants, and has pictures of the panel looking completely mystified. There is also a page devoted to Hayley Evetts, who appeared on the first series of the show. Hayley has her own “column” in the magazine, and uses this to give her verdicts on the people who have auditioned for the current series. Hayley writes in a relaxed and easy to read manner, and the article was quite enjoyable.
Jade Goody, her of the “minging kebab” fame, has a two page spread, mainly a series of pictures of her with her new baby, out and about, and having lunch with a friend. There is not much of an interview with Jade herself, but it’s easy to figure out why.
The “Hollywood Gossip” section is a five page spread, and is devoted to small stories about Hollywood stars. Stories of Arnie the Terminator running for Governor in the good old US of A, and the rapper P Diddy being sued yet again, together with another negative story about the obnoxious Russell Crowe. These pages are full of great gossipy stories about the stars, most of them giving off negative vibes, but that is what good gossip does.
The “Stars in their Homes” section is another lavish spread, featuring pictures of the homes of people in the news, such as Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston, the accompanying story has Jennifer stating that Brad is a wonderful homemaker and has an eye for all things interior. The picture accompanying the article, only heightens suspicions that anyone in Hollywood has to have an enormous sprawling mansion, costing at least £10 million. However, the article had me sitting back, absolutely amazed at the ostenticity of some of the homes featured.
In the main magazine, there are an amazing thirty seven full page advertisements for various products. However, my interest in “OK” is still not diminished, as the majority of the stories they run about various celebrities hold my interest.
The media hungry Victoria Beckham has a large article devoted to her new career move, a model for Roca Wear. Although the article itself is very informative, both about Mrs Beckham’s latest job, and the company she is working for, there is no interview with her.
“OK” also specialises in large spreads featuring a celebrity and their partner/spouse, wherein a lengthy interview takes place with the couple, and features many pictures of them in different outfits. The caption for each photograph then lists stockists for each outfit, together with their prices.
The “Celebrity Round Up” section is a collection of short articles, about stars in the news, about who they are dating, who they have dumped, and details of any new plans in the pipeline for them.
The “OK Diary” is a round up of parties and events over the past week, with details of who attended, what they wore, and who they were with. Of course, there are pictures showing the reader anyway!
So how does “OK” compare with other weekly magazines? Well, “Take a Break” retails at 70p per week, but the quality of the paper is poor, the articles in the magazine are reader’s own stories, coupled with competitions, and of course you don’t receive a free magazine either.
“OK” is definitely my favourite celebrity magazine of the moment, and is always read from cover to cover.
Advantages: Great interviews, great gossip, great pictures! Disadvantages: none
When I started reading Ok I was looking for a magazine that would really interest me, i've always been interested in celebrities and liked to know what they were up to! I had tried Hello magazine and various other fashion mags but none of them really made me want to go out every week and buy them.
Now dont get me wrong I do like to know about the latest fashions and make up but I really dont need to read like 20 pages (maybe not that many but you ... ...magazines did just that. Ok however is different, there are fashion pages and there are pages on make up but I find they are just enough to be informative and interesting without being too over the top!
Right, so we've got fashion and make up, it also has lots of lovely juicy gossip about celebrities and I do find that it's usually very up to date and accurate. You'll also find that most celebrities trust Ok therefore will always go to them first ...

Advantages: Full of gossip, free Hot Stars magazine! Disadvantages: Far more pictures than text, lots of adverts too!
OK quite simply for me is the equivalent of The Bible to Christians, a CD player to music lovers and a dummy to a baby… I couldn’t live without it!
I first started buying OK last year, before then my mum had always bought it to decorate the coffee table and make her look younger, contemporary and up to date with gossip! Upon my routine visit to the newsagents I was horrified to realise I’d already read all my usual, Cosmopolitan, More and Company ... ...and have since become an OK addict – if they had the counterpart of AA for OK, I’d be first in the queue every week at meetings, that’s how serious it is! I look forward to a Wednesday when I know I’ll be able to get my new copy and curl up on my bed devouring it page by page.
So what do you actually get?
Well quite simply it’s a gossip magazine – but an upmarket one at that and also features longer editorials and several page spreads on a celebrity. ...

The regulars in ok is basically what is in every issue.

Advantages: nice pics Disadvantages: not enough writing
OK is a magazine that sells 25 million copies per year. It is a big, glossy mag that contains hundreds of photos of celebrities. It prides itself on being the ‘first for celebrity weddings’, and the most recent issue has Jade Goody’s exclusive wedding pics in it. Again, I’m not the target audience for this sort of mag (being a male) but I happened to see my wife’s copy on the sofa and thought it would be interesting to review.
Coming in at a huge ... ...NEWS: The value of the so called ‘news’ in this mag is questionable, but if you are turned on by the idea of seeing photos of Katie and Peter out jogging, then this is the mag for you. Basically, any celeb spottings are found in this section, with hardly any writing. There is no focus on ‘real’ news, in the traditional sense, so don’t make that mistake!
FEATURES: This is where you’ll find the cover stories, such as Jade’s weddings. Many of the stories ...

Advantages: Exclusive celebrity news, facts not rumours, not badly priced Disadvantages: Your arms ache from reading it because it's so thick!
OK! Magazine is the best magazine for celebrity gossip. For just £2.50 you get OK!, OK! USA and Hot Stars. They each offer you a selection of the week's best celebrity news, that's right, just the week. Who would have thought so much happened in a week.
OK! offers exclusive pictures and interviews with the hottest star, I'm sure every single famous person has been shown in this magazine at one time or another. Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Aniston, Jessica ... ...backstage gossip and pictures from big red carpet events and the latest from Cannes film festival.
What I like about this magazine is that it doesn't insult and embarrass celebrities like other magazine. It's more about giving you the facts than rumours. With so many celebrities willing to give interviews and pictures of their families and homes to the magazine it must be trusted amongst the A-list too.
There is also the classic Agony Aunt and ...

This is a glossy magazine which has all the latest gossip from the world of show biz. It has all the top photographs and covers most of the top celebrity event. It pays huge amounts of money to bring the readers exclusives like David Beckham wedding photographs. So, if the events on the story will be in ‘OK’.
It’s a very bright magazine with loads of colourful photographs, I think some time it has a bit too many photographs and not enough articles. But, it normally makes up for that by having a top interview, usually someone from Hollywood.
There isn’t that much advertising and you get what you expect from a magazine. Some recipes, normally ones that help you lose weight and some puzzles, horoscope and a problem page. I like the house design bit of the magazine which show you all the latest fashions ...

Advantages: Cheaper than 'HELLO!' Disadvantages: Not many interviews
The 'OK!' magazine is basically a mag full of celebrity gossip and news. Some people are addicted to the mag, overs totally 100% dislike it!
The cover always pushes me into buying it because they always place really interesting pictures and goss on the front that you just have to read! So you pick up the mag, take a look read the gossip and then realise that you've been standing in the shop for about half an hour, BUT you can't put the magazine down because you NEED to know the latest juicy goss~So what do you do, you buy it of course don't you! OR in some cases just go to a local hair salon and sit in the waiting room, I assure you they will have all the latest issues! Though that way may be a little more expensive because geting your hair cut is just a little more than £1.85!
Well, anyway STOP me nattering and lets get into ...

The Magazine full of excellent quality glossy photographs, this is an excellent magazine if you want to have a little nose into the world of the showbiz. This is a good colourful magazine, which you can tell is quality by the thickness of the pages.
It has some excellent sneak photographs of celebrity’s, with top interviews, health tips, competitions, crossword and horoscopes.
It’s a good magazine if you want a good glossy photograph mag, but sometimes I think it could do with a touch more articles.
The ones it usually has are worth reading.
They focus quite a lot on Hollywood but they do have quite a lot of photographs and gossip on British stars.
I think this magazine is most famous for exclusives, they’ll pay huge amounts of money to get you the best, photographs. And that can be millions… ...
