"Is Your Back OoRITE?"

Year: 2011
Featured on: “OoRITE Time”
Chart Position: n/a

The first half of 2011 established Preditah as Grime’s next big producer. As the beatmaker’s brother is an MC on the rise, how could he leave him behind? That’s exactly what Predz thought when he got his music career fully off the ground and decided that his little brother needed the right stepping stone to give him the same celebrated attention for his unique takes on Grime and what the sound truly represents. That’s what happened when they collaborated on “OoRITE” and included a Hip Hop track of C4’s on a double A-side single, called “OoRITE Time”.

In 2011, C4 cracked through the crevices of Grime thanks to his signature single, “OoRITE”. As the run-up single to his proper breakthrough tune “Off Track”, it sets the scene for his style and how he differs from the other spitters out there. Primarily, the main differences lie in the fact that he’s from Birmingham, so it makes a refreshing change to the London accents which flood the game. On top of this, as an artist who isn’t afraid to sing, he capitalises on his vocal strengths to create an atmospheric tune. Unlike his second single, “OoRITE”, is far more of a dance track and suits the bouncy Preditah instrumental which supports it. As rapid-fire bars fly out of his mouth, he makes a teeny-boppers tune to go completely against the grain for the scene’s run-of-the-mill gritty stuff. He could even be perceived as Birmingham’s answer to JME and this single proves it.

“Time”, the other single included here, is a breezy track which some may find forgettable. Although he’s primarily set in Grime, it shows that he can do Hip Hop well and is able to bring out introspective thoughts when he’s backed by a calming instrumental, but the quality is really with “OoRITE”, and “Time” is really only put in there to show that he can cope with different tempos. Overall, you’ll get the impression that he’s one to look out for and could cause a shift in the game.
