I had heard lots of recommendations for OPI Nail Lacquers, so when I noticed that my local Boots sold them (by the instore nail bar), and that they were reduced to half price (I got them for £4 each, which was a great deal!), I grabbed a load of them! I should point out that they were reduced because the nail bar was closing down and they wanted to get rid of some stock.
OPI have most amazing range of colours to choose from - it took me a long time to pick out the ones I chose. I only wanted a couple, but I couldn't decide between all the gorgeous colours, and as they were on offer I thought I'd treat myself to a few more! They have every colour imaginable; they sell around 10 shades of each of the following colours: neutral tones, rose tones, red tones, purple tones, pink tones, peach tones, orange tones, mauve tones, earth tones, burgundy tones and bronze tones. And they also bring new collections out every now and again, each with a different theme. The name of each varnish is fun too!
Anyway, I was not disappointed in the ones I chose! Each clear glass bottle is a generous 15ml size. The lid is black (as with most nail varnishes) and attached is a great sized brush which helps the varnish to go on well. I have had my varnishes for a while now, and the brush is still as good as new - no hairs have been lost, and none are splayed. Therefore application is as easy as when I first bought them.
The varnish itself is easy to apply, it's not too runny, and not gloopy either - it's just the right consistency for easy application. As with all nail varnishes, for a good result I apply a strip of varnish first in the centre of the nail (from cuticle to tip), and then another strip on either side. The varnish gives a lovely gloss, but I apply base coat and top coat too, which may alter the look. I apply two coats for the look that I prefer.
Although it's not stated on the bottles, OPI varnishes do come in different finishes. Some are normal (glossy), some are pearly, some are shimmery etc. It's probably best to test them in a shop before buying, to make sure that you like the finish of the colour that you like.
OPI polishes are long lasting compared to a lot of other nail varnishes that I have tried. Most varnishes chip on me within a day (what can I say, I'm quite active!), but this can last between 2-3 (no option for this!) days on me without chipping. Of course, using a top coat helps it to last longer, and some top coats are better than others, which is another factor to consider. This is not my favourite varnish for its durability (Revlon Colorstay is the best ever for that in my opinion), but it's probably one of the best.
OPI Laquers are normally around £8, but a bottle does last for a while. A big downside is that they are difficult to get hold of in the shops. As I said, I got mine in Boots, but since they stopped selling them there, I haven't seen them in any other shop. I think they can probably be bought from some beauty salons, and if you don't mind buying online, I have seen them being sold on a couple of websites (although colours might not be accurate on screen, so you could be disappointed with your choice if you order without actually seeing the colour).
My favourite colours are:
Dusk Over Cairo - a beautifuldusky pink. Sonora Sunset - a rosy colour Tutti Frutti Tonga - a shimmery pale pink Coney Island Cotton Candy - very natural pale pink I'm not really a waitress - a glamourous red Chick Flick Cherry - plain red

I LOVE OPI and have loads of their polishes and swear by the Nail Envy nail strengthening system. Fantastic quality. I usually buy mine from e-bay from the same person. Still looking for a salon though... ~ Jo :O)
