On Saturday morning I woke up unable to open my left eye. Rushing to the bathroom with only one eye open I squinted into the mirror to see that my eye lashes were glued together with a horrible yellow crust. I bathed my eye open and returned to bed feeling grateful that at least it was Saturday and I could hide away indoors! My eye felt like it was full of grit and sore and the surrounding area was swollen. My eye was completely bloodshot adding to my new look! My husband took one look at me and agreed to go to the chemist to see what help was available! He returned with a small bottle of ... more

Advantages Advantages Soothes irritated eye infections.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None.

The one thing I struggle with is putting eye drops into my eyes, I just do not like the feeling of it when it hits my eye although I know nothing is going to happen to them, it is just the way I have always been when using them. I have to be almost tied down to do the task lol. I really do struggle to use any product of this description by myself but I had to recently because I had an eye infection because I was a little unwell and run down. When I woke up one morning my eyes were really sore, gritty and a little swollen, I found I was struggling to see and they felt really uncomfortable. At ... more

Advantages Advantages They work well - and thats all I need in a medicine

Disadvantages Disadvantages Children don't tend to like stuff in their eyes

My daughter was recently sent home from school with itchy pink eyes. Initially we thought she might have hay fever, and as my family are on the 'Pharmacy First' scheme (a scheme that means we can get common household medicines (such as antihistamines, nit lotion, paracetamol) for free after a brief consultation with a chemist, rather than wasting a doctors appointment, we popped straight down to the local chemist. The chemist had a brief look at her eye and informed us that she had Conjuctivitus - essentially swelling and irritation of the membrane lining of the eyes - and prescribed us Optrex ... more

Advantages Advantages treats conjunctivitis well without a trip to the doctor

Disadvantages Disadvantages have to throw the drops away, not cheap

Conjunctivitis is one of those horrible things that will probably hit us all at one point or another. At one point it used to mean a trip to the doctors to have it diagnosed and then have some drops prescribed but then Optrex released their infected eye drops meaning that you could purchase drops for the condition without having to go and see your GP. Conjunctivitis is typically an infection which will cause the white part of your eye to be red and your eye may be swollen. There will also be a sticky discharge coming from the eye which will make it hard to open in the mornings as a rule. This ... more

Advantages Advantages Great for treating conjunctivitis

Disadvantages Disadvantages Putting the drops in!

Being a teacher has its pros and cons. The major disadvantages for me are all of the germs that spread around the classroom with sneezing, coughing etc. ~ My Experience ~ This leads me on to how I recently suffered from conjunctivitis. One of the little 'darling's' Mum sent her in with a very nasty looking eye, all watery and gunky, it then spread to two other members of the class and I was the third victim and it's not a pleasant thing to have especially when you get it on a Saturday morning having planned a big night out! Typical that I got it on a weekend! I woke up with a horrendous gritty ... more
