This is a smart looking laptop, although the screen release catch is very noddy and flimsy. It has a firewire connection so you can connect a digital camera to it for instance which is rather handy and a nice feature. The mouse pad is really nice and has smooth movement, which is great as some acer laptops I've used recently have been really slow sticky movement.
It has built in wireless, however it doesn't have an external switch to enable or disable which is a little annoying. Same with bluetooth, it supports bluetooth but there is no external switch to disable or enable it. There is also no phsical light that shows you your wireless or bluetooth connectivity status, which to be honest is really ...

I bought this laptop almost a year ago and have not had a problem with it to date. The design of the laptop is aimed at robustness and portability... all the hardware has been installed with the 'travelling salesman' at mind. I purchased this item as necessary equipment for my university course instead of buying a university recommended IBM ThinkPad. After much research I found that the IBMs tended to be a lot less reliable and the dell had good reviews all round - I have no been disappointed! The D600 does everything my home PC can do and more, with a lot less problems.
The laptop/notebook is not the cheapest out there but the value for money and quality of the product is excellent!
The only drawbacks I have found is that the hard-drive does get hot and you can feel this when you are typing; the heat is not uncomfortable however ...
Advantages: This computer is fast, looks good and it is quite thin. Disadvantages: Could be a little bit lighter.
My experience
I bought the Dell latitudeD505 at a very good price. People say Dells are too expensive but they are wrong, they cost just as much as any other computer. My family has always had Dells and they are excellent computers. Right from the beginning I have been very pleased. I have used it for a while now and it has never let me down.
The keys on the keyboard are very well situated, it is very clear where all of the keys that you don?t use very often. The whole front surface is very well designed; it does look very nice and attractive. I think Dell computers are one of the best on the design point of view and should always be considered one of the first makes you should look at.
The speed is very impressive, it takes about 5 seconds to get from the login on page to the icons, it is also very good ...
