Obaby Atlas Stroller

jack is now 3 and a couple of months and does walk a fair bit. However seeing as both Himself and I are keen walkers we realise that to get out and do the walks that we so much enjoy we are going to have to take Jack's stroller out with us. This often leads to him walking less than he would had we not taken the stroller out as he sees it and thinks he might as well be in it!

I really couldn't' say how many strollers we have had because we went through a spate of buying them from Argos and things going wrong with them (mostly the bottom foot strap breaking) and we would take them back to Argos for an exchange. So much so that I am pretty much on first name terms with the lady behind the returns till at Argos!

This Obaby stroller is our current and hopefully last stroller that we are going to have to buy/exchange for Jack. It is seemingly better than the previous ones we have had and was priced at a reasonable £64.99 pence. I think though that this price has gone up slightly since the launch of the new Argos catalogue.

The main thing we were looking for when buying a stroller was one that was going to be easy to fold down and to put in the rather limited width of our Seat Ibiza boot. We had a previous buggy with a folded down length of 112cm and this was a real struggle to get in and had to be put in at an angle the whole time. The closed down length of this one however is a little shorter at 102cm and this means it isn't so much of a struggle to slot straight in.

The buggy does look good and is rather neutral so we are hoping it will last well enough to keep for any future children we may have. The black and white colours are rather nice and do hide the dirt quite well. The material of the buggy means that it is easy to wipe clean and also to hoover out.

The stroller has a few good features such as a rain cover which comes with it as a standard, a 5 seat recline position which is easy to change at the back of the stroller by a little push in button and pull out cord. There is also a detachable hood which is good for keeping rain off and sun out of Jacks eyes and also good for putting items of shopping on! There is a shopping basket underneath which is handy for putting in items that you might need when going out such as sun cream, beach towel and that sort of thing. The leg rest of the stroller can be in a chair like position or up in a more reclining position which is very handy for smaller children.

The 5 point safety harness that the stroller has is easy to use and easy to clean. Jack is unable to undo this himself because it is rather stiff for little fingers by my little fingers still manage to open and close it okay! There are eight wheels on the stroller and these seem to be made of a pretty good and hard wearing material that have yet to look that worn and are surely gong to last a long time to come. The stroller on the whole is easy to push and you can change the wheels from a spining position to that of a static forward motion with the flip of a front switch easily.

The breaks of the buggy are probably the worst part of the whole thing and I find on the whole not easy to use. You can just use one foot to flip down one side which is then linked up to the other side and operates both of the back breaks. These don't always work first time so it is always best to check and double check that they are safe to trust.

The foot rest on this Obaby stroller seems far more sturdier than other buggies we have had and because this has always been the first part to snap off I was just waiting for the time we were going to have to take it back to Argos for this reason. However the tough rubber type material that it is made from seems to be a lot stronger than most and has really held its own with Jack using it.

The stroller is easy to fold down with the unhooking of one part of the steel frame and the push down of a side leaver with your foot. The whole stroller folds down to a small and easy to carry size which makes it a great buggy for being out and about and taking away on holiday.

The stroller is suitable from birth although I don't think I would fancy putting a new born into it. However it does only go up to a weight of 15kg of which Jack is a fair bit more now and it still seems to handle this well.

On the whole I have to say that this is the best buggy that you can get for this sort of price range. It is small and portable whilst being strong and comfortable for jack. There is a good amount of storage underneath and both Himself and I feel comfortable when pushing it and holding onto the nice foamy type handles.

I think a score of 4 out of 5 stars for this product and this minus mark being only because of the seemingly poor brake system.

Many thanks for taking the time to read.

I do hope that this has been of some help/interest to you.

I wouldn't be very happy if the brakes didn't always work
