    There is no shop quite like Oddbins. I do speak from experience here, because as well as being a great customer of theirs, I also worked for them for a few months and have seen the workings beneath the surface. Each Oddbins shop has two basic ingredients: the staff and the booze. The staff In many other shops, including other off-licences, the staff seem to take great pride in knowing very little or nothing at all about the product they are required to sell.     Oddbins makes me feel great. I really enjoy being in an Oddbins, probably more than any other offie. One key factor here is the staff - maybe my memory's a little selective, but whichever branch I go in, they seem to always be friendly and knowledgeable. It makes all the difference - and I usually spend more, as their advice encourages me to try new things and maybe push the boat out a little further. As for the stock, I've seldom been disappointed by a new wine I've bought from there - the consistency of the cheap(ish) end of their range is admirable. There's enough choice to allow both ... more

    As the days tick away until my sons christening..I have been busy sourceing Wine/Champagne/Pimms/Glasses to hire and Ice bins!Oh and Beer!!!!! I came across Oddbins( after being recommended it by Sainsburys as they couldnt help me out!) Firstly I called them with my request..that being for some Glasses to hire... The assistant was great she was able to accomodate me for champagne glasses and wine goblets,but not for some hiball tumblers for the pimms!!!But hey i was getting somewhere... She took down my request and asked me what day i wanted to collect the glasses,and stated the terms and ... more

    Okay perhaps I'm slightly biased because I work part time for Oddbins, but there is one thing for sure, oddbins staffs are there because of their love of wine, not because of the money. This means that a lot of effort goes into staff training and staff tastings are hosted every month. Even as a part time member of staff on a zero hour contract oddbins are willing to pay for me to do the WSET (Wine & Spirit Education Trust) levels I and II.     My favourite all time off licencehas to be Oddbins. The staff are always very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about their products, and the wines and beers are top notch. They also have an interesting, if limited range of soft drinks such as Fentimans Ginger Brew - The finest ginger beer I've encountered. The range of beers varies through the year, but the basic range is excellent, including such rare wonders as beer from the Salopian brewery and when the promotions come along, such as the Mad Monk Month the range is fantastic. The Mad Monk promotion featured beers and glasses from all bar one ... more
