Advantages Advantages Powerful and emotional story

Disadvantages Disadvantages Some offensive and racist languages

Of Mice And Men is an all time classic of the twentieth century literature and is written by Nobel Prize winning author John Steinbeck. Of Mice And Men was published in1936 and this book has since remains a popular required reading in many secondary schools across the UK and in many other countries. My mum studied Of Mice And Men during her school years many years ago and told me that after finishing the end chapter there were many teary eyes in her class! I am also currently studying Of Mice And Men in my GCSE so it's clear that this book is still being studied in English Literature. Of Mice ... more

    Advantages Advantages Beautiful short story.

Disadvantages Disadvantages It will make you cry.

I have always believed that good things come in small packages and this is certainly true of Steinbeck's 'Of Mice and Men'. I studied this text at school and absolutely fell in love with it. Having recently reread it I thought it might be interesting to organise my thoughts and review it. ***Plot*** The story is centred around two migrant ranch works, George Milton and Lennie Small, set in the time of the Great Depression. George, a quick witted man, takes on the role of protector/parent for Lennie, who, despite the surname, is of immense size but limited mental ability. Both men share a dream ... more

    Advantages Advantages a fantastic read

Disadvantages Disadvantages may have you in tears!!!

This book is definately a must read. I studied it for my GCSE's and absolutely loved it. It is about two men who friends. George is very dominant, intelligent and small, whereas Lenny is the complete oposite- Stupid, Tall and infantile. THe story explains how George is a Paternal figure to Lenny, and looks after him and dreams of a better life. George is tragically forced to put an end to Lenny's unfortunate life. It is a very gripping story with a grusome ending and may have you in tears. Steinbeck identifies several themes throughout the book: dreams, loneliness, how man's prosperity ... more

Advantages Advantages Useful notes and interesting themes

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not the most interesting read

Lenny and George are two lonely not so average ranch guys at around the time f the depression taking any jobs avalible. The differnce is with them is that they have each other unlike most other men who work on a ranch. They look out for each other- George more than Lennie since Lennie appears to have some kind of dissability giving him the menalitaliy of a child making him slower and forgetful and also incredibly strong. This gets him into trouble and is the reason they lost their last job since a girl accused him of rape when he was- actually just trying to stroke her dress since it felt soft ... more

5 Stars Quick review of Of Mice and Men: With Notes (Longman Literature Steinbeck) - John Steinbeck by LTookes 16/09/2008
.This is a wonderful book. Teachers actually give it to high school sophomores for projects. If you've ever seen the movie It's exactly like it. I couldn't keep my head out of it. One of the best books I've ever read
