TD Waterhouse web broker - terrible

Advantages: cheap
Disadvantages: totally crap

I've had a TD Waterhouse web trader for 5 years - Initially they were good, the website was fast, they allow access to international markets and some derivatives.. However... As of about a year ago they have gone to pieces. 1) The website is often down. - it's a web trader for crying out loud. 2) Even when the website is up - it flakes out on stock look ups etc. The excuse is always the same; "we are experiencing high volumes" - buy a quicker ...
...Telephone service is terrible, i'm typing in this review while waiting for a CS rep to pick up the phone to execute my order via the phone (because once again the website is down) - I have been waiting 25 minutes. Get a TD Waterhouse account at your peril. ...

...plan. On 24th September Barclays stockbrokers, following my enquiry, offered me Leeds Building Society 13.375% bonds at £1.30. I bought them . The dealer said: “I confirm the deal has gone through. You have purchased 22,000 at £28,675 – a price of £1.30” (1) 26 October I queried non delivery and their spokesman said: “I am not disputing that you were told the deal had gone through”(2) Barclays continued to say they hadn’t sold the bonds to me because ...
...On 9 November Barclays wrote:: “Where we are clearly at fault is in telling you that the trade had been executed when it was not” (3) On 12 November another spokesman told me Barclays would not put the matter right.(4) In summary, I am expected to suffer the loss caused by their “human error”: They offered me bonds – I agreed to buy them – they confirmed they had sold them to me – they cancelled the transaction internally but made no attempt to tell ...

Natwest Stockbrokers Online Services

Advantages: Quick and easy to use, excellent facilities
Disadvantages: Not the cheapest fees available

My experience with Natwest stockbrokers has been a very pleasent one. I use the online brokering system, which provides a secure and easy way to trade shares for a minimal fee. There are various options available when buying and selling shares (such as 'market' , 'fill or kill' etc.) and you can buy/sell by volume or by target price - which is very useful if you are on a budget! You also get to choose your settlement period. There are cheaper stockbrokering ...
...to buy/sell shares through the Natwest broker and optionally a nominee account to store your certificates electronically - which saves having to deal with paperwork and saves on certain fees. Although you don't get advice on what to buy/sell there is an extensive analytics section on the site, with heat maps, gainers/fallers, breakouts as well as in-depth material on all listed companies. You can also set up price alerts to receive SMS/email on ...

Lloyds Stockbrokers have lost it!

Advantages: None at present
Disadvantages: Failure to respond to secure emails is resulting in financial losses.

I have had severl stock account for anumber of years now which up to about 6 months ago operated very well but very sadly now they don't action instructions, fail to take up rights and take weeks (if they answer at all) to respond to secure emails. I have sent numerous request and follow up emails but all to no avail. Yet up to the credit crunch I had no complaints. My wife and I have individual and a joint account and the current problems apply ...

Brewin Dolphin - Rip off merchants

Advantages: Can lose lots of money if you do not want your inheritance to reach your relatives
Disadvantages: Lose lots of money

...to write a review on Brewin Dolphin as a result of my experience with them. My overall impression of using them for over 10 years (not out of choice, will explain as i go on) is VERY BAD. I did come into some money from a relative, but was not able to recieve the fuds until i was 21. This was approx. 10 years that Brewin Dolphin would be responsible for the growth of the money. You must understand that this period did include September 11th and so ...
...left. 10 years on, with Brewin Dolphin taking a 'management' fee each year i am left with £38,000. So if you want to lose half your money after a length of 10 years investment, then use Brewin Dolphin, the only thing they lose if your money, they will still take their 'management' fee for losing your money for you. It is breath taking that these bankers can steal in daylight, whereas if i went into their branch in Manchester and took each of their ...
