Advantages: I feel less like Herman Monster on a bad day.. Disadvantages: The price. A little sticky until it dries.

Sigh... I rarely get time these days to test try anything remotely lush, let alone a good old make up session party with my older sister, aka the make up counter consultant when I was a love sick teenager and trying to impress the boys... Alas, No! And what a shame! Those days are gone so come with me and Picture the scene can you - It's Debenhams, the big advertising sister of Revlon, the epitomy of years of practice and fine art,a 50+ size 8 impeccable "done up to the nines megolamaniac, with the air hostess style designer suit, the 6 inch stillettoes, the channel no 5... the liposuction..and the face lift, the obligatory silk neck scarf ,the sculptured talons, the hair extentions... the lot . In other words, only another make up consultant fixing me with her steely stare from the length of her perfectly made up powdered nose sniffing haughtily at the shade of scarlett lipstick I'd love to buy clashing with the voice of reason circling around my head. A giggle escapes my lips.
Another shriek of laughter at my dark circled eyes with their Basset Hound Dog veins...causes "my sister" to choke as politely as one can whilst swallowing her own tongue in an effort to convert me full time to the full works...And how she worked! "All you need is a good moisturising routine.." she booms in a voice that can be heard all over the shop; suggesting this and that whilst plastering the works on my raw cleansed and ready to pop her anticipation with a slap round her face.(She's blonde and 3 sizes smaller than me...the bitch!)
God knows I need something! ...I sigh.
Another gale of laughter.
l could do with a lift all right, I say conversationally to her more approachable helper, aka the assistant underling/partner -in -crime -of the elevator -sized variety-with the elevator sized bags to go with 'em...(obviously the make up doesn't work on HER! I thought. )
Then I catch sight of mine.. oops! 'Nuff said -the less, the better. Bags deep and large enough for a swinging hammock or two I have to admit ,and perhaps the only thing seperating a slap up valentines dinner and me is the face minus the bags to go with it - "I might set someone on fire with that lipstick" she booms helpfully in a voice like a man's (how do I know she isn't one?!...) we grin good naturedly at her collegue looking younger than her 13 yr old daughter with her peaches and cream skin...oh help! Everything looks lopsided on me! ...even the skin lying in wobbly folds down my neck.... Bless! Then wobble bot adds; "A bit of sculpting under that jowl err I mean jaw line, wouldn't go amiss eh?" She booms in a voice that would turn the bacon fat rancid.
Ever heard of Olay?.......
A pregnant pause. As it happens I haven't the heart to tell her I most certainly have, thankyou very much!. One more snide comment and I'll floor her I think. Just 1 more... Then just as suddenly,I awake with a jolt realising it had all been a ghastly dream and I let out a huge sigh of relief.
This is what happens to the subconscious when you let the pre menopausal stage get to you and you're spending all your spare time sussing out which of the olay products you need help with the most, to minimise the Nora Batty look complete with dark circles and hammock bags.!
Ok then...OLAY EYE CONTOUR GEL: Just the other week I picked up the Eye contour gel, selling for a cool £6.99 at Asda's. It works by cooling and temporarily firming the delicate eye skin and lid.Only a little is needed so don't waste it and do be careful that you don't poke your eye out with it!
PACKAGING:
I do like the Olay packaging with this product as it is positvely tiny. A 50ml size.Useful to slip into a handbag and reapply anytime your eyes feel like a swollen clump of burning grit. The familiar shiny black lid with a screw top, finishes off quite nicely, the transparency of the product and the body of the pot ,offering the consumer a smart cool, ageless appeal so that you can see the transparent silvery water- coloured product gel itself. Hold it up to the light and it glitters like silver star light. there's a seductive splash of christmas gold on the top of the box.
A Handy tip...
Here's a tip- as if you didn't know this common fact (but you're getting it anyway, alright?!) in summertime/hot countries-place it in the fridge, not in your cupbpard /handbag to melt and feel a sickly warm - that way it's fresher than ever on you and even cooler on yer eyes. NOT to be used like this if you suffer from sinus/neuralgia as I sometimes do or it will set off a nerve and can actually be a killer type pain that could take up to 2 days to clear ...arrrgh! as I discovered in Italy last year when I took cold showers every hour!! (flamming murder!) This procedure almost matches the effectivity of the humble cucumber slices.Promise!
The packaging itself is a nice box in black rich gold, and cream and the tiny 50ml pot is sleek and shiny enough without slapping one in the eye. It has the look of a puritan. simple, understated and definately classy a universal look with the obligatory olay logo on the front and on the top of the lid. It comes in a tiny 50ml size which may sound stingy, but it goes a long way and must be applied sparingly. You can buy the larger size but this would set you back at least £13-£14. I have found it lasts an awful long time if you're careful.
CONSISTANCY:
The gel is smooth slippery and non greasy to the touch, but to me- gives off a ,slight rather glue type disapointing odour, yet is supposed to be odour free /neutral .(At least that's what I think! ) and I do find it fairly sticky to the touch resting on your eyelids whilst wet, but it dries quite quickly and you can feel it working by the tingly cool sensation, which makes up for the stickiness. As it dries,it firms up the delicate skin beneath and around the eye. It's cooling effect can be felt immediately,so bear with the initial sticky taut feeling which some readers may dislike. This is the firming ingrediant working, and the eye area doesn't feel as slack anymore but nicely firmed for a few hours after.
I find as with all olay products that it is light, non greasy, non irritant and best of all dermotoligically friendly and this is a product and I would recommend in an emergency for a quick fix.
BUT DOES IT WORK?
As mentioned,it has a lovely cooling effect;enhanced by sitting still and trying to be patient and sensible (who ME?)closing ones' eyes and listening to your favourite but relaxing type music, you can actually feel your blood/skin being stimulated by the tingly coolness but then one would feel this if you used the traditional cheaper cucumber slice. But-I've noticed this product offers you a temporary firming up as it were in a way the humble cucumber can re hydrate but not quite pull off,so I think it's worth the money in the long run. Cammomile tea bags placed in the fridge and laid over the eye lids is good too.
CONCLUSION THEN?
The effects wear off quite quickly, and I do find myself tempted to slather on a bit more but do resist 'cos it's only drawback is that 50ml is a bit stingy to be paying nearly 7 quid for. I wouldn't say that it moisturises, but because it's refreshing, your eyes feel and look more revitalised . It did reduce puffiness and my circles look healthily controllable, instead of " Hammock head " I'd say now. I would give this product 8/10 due to the stink of glue odour until dry,and it's a bit gloopy/sticky. 10/10 for everything else.

A smug farewell to Herman monster on a bad day then! Happy slathering.
Advantages: Makes eyes feel refreshed Disadvantages: No effect on dark circles and not happy with packaging
Yes, I'm writing another Olay review - anyone would think I had shares in the company, but no, I just use a lot of their products. Now that I'm in my 30s I find myself trying more and more products in an attempt to preserve the youthful qualities of my skin. I guess it's just a sign of my age and it goes hand in hand with the way I've started to listen to Radio 2 with increasing frequency.
Up to now I've always been very satisfied with any Olay ... ...were to read my glowing reviews of their moisturiser and night cream you'd see what I meant. However, this eye contour gel just doesn't live up to many of the other Olay products. Before I go on to tell you what I don't like about it, lets start with the facts. If you buy
Olay's Eye Contour Gel from the usual high street retailers it will cost you £7.99 for 15 ml. I actually bought mine from a discount toiletries store for £3.50 but few people will ...

I am a fan of Olay products so when I spotted Olay eye gel in my local Boots it did not take much to persuade me that it would be a worthwhile purchase. So was this a good decision or one of the many I would come to regret?
What do you get for your money?
*****************************
I paid £6.99 in my local Boots for this product. The 15ml of eye gel comes packaged in a very stylish black and gold box. Open the extensive packaging and inside ... ...with a black screw top lid. The packaging promises that if you use the gel for any length of time you will experience great benefits such as a reduction in fine lines, less puffiness, a reduction in dark circles under your eyes and help with skin regeneration. Sounds good doesn’t it? Having read the promise on the box I was hooked and could hardly wait to get my purchase home and put it to the test. On opening the lid I took a sniff and thought the ...

Advantages: A tiny container good for travelling Disadvantages: No visible effects, neither positive nor negative
Several months ago while shopping in superdrug, I spied upon the Olay eye contour gel. Out of curiosities, I bought it. Six months on, I have finally finished the tiny jar of 15 ml and is happy to say, the effects are so slight I still don't know what it does to my skin.
According to Olay, the eye contour gel is supposed to reduce lines, dark circles and puffiness. In my case, I have some lines and definitely large dark circles around my puffy eyes. ... ...nights and insufficient sleep over the years. The gel comes in a tiny translucent jar with a black cap with the usual Olay logo. It is well packaged, giving a very classy look. As mentioned before, the jar contains about 15ml of the gel. Not a lot, but if used sparingly, will last a while.
The gel itself is transparent. It is supposed to be parfum free, but there is a scent to it nevertheless. A very light fragrance. Olay states that the gel contains ...

...local beauty counter and selected Oil of Olay Eye Contour Gel. It caught my eye because the range it belongs to have great packaging, striking black, white and gold boxes and sturdy, resiliant tubs. At approximately £8.00 I thought it was a bit steep but I really think that it's worth it. Aside from preventing wrinkles (which can't be proven until I'm 40!) it definitely had a good effect on improving the appearance of my soft skin under my eyes. ... ...of the combination of stimulating the blood by applying the gel, and the refreshing feel to it. My dark patches have almost diappeared after 4 months of using it, and i have noticed that the skin feels tighter there. The product is fragrance free which is great, and the gel is see-through and easy to apply. However, the tub is quite small and you can finish it fairly quickly. My last tub lasted around 2 months. A pleasant side-effect is that if applied ...

Advantages: Helps with minor dark circles, inexpensive considering how long a pot lasts Disadvantages: Cold in the winter!!
I've always had minor dark circles underneath my eyes, I've never been sure if this is through lack of sleep or that I'm crossed with a panda.
I've tried several products to remove these circles, but most to no avail. I tried Olay Eye Contour Gel expecting similar results to the other products I had tried, but approached it with the attitude of if you don't try, you won't know.
The price initially seemed expensive at just under £9 per pot, but ... ...of time each pot lasts, the cost is with hindsight quite reasonable.
The clear gel, I have always found, is easily abosrbed into my skin and unlike other similar products, it doesn't make my eyes feel cold after I have used it.
There is a slight perfume to the gel; the nearest scent I can compare it to is vanilla. This smell isn't overpowering, so I don't personally see it to be a problem.
I have been using the gel for a few months now, and it ...

Advantages: makes your skin smooth Disadvantages: You have to be single to use it..
takes some time for it to absorb, thick as it is, has to stand rubbing against a pillow all night, so I´m patient. If you touch your skin after a few minutes it´s really smooth, and feels a bit fat and oily. So if you have a really fat skin type, this is probably not the best choice for you. I don´t use it around my eyes, since that area is very sensitive, there are special creams for that, like Oil of Olays "Eyecontourgel".
Oil of Olay also have a night double action night creme for sensitive skin, Double Action Night Cream Hypo-Allergenic. Another long name :).
This cream moisturises and nourishes the skin during the night, replacing moisture lost during the day. It also increases the skin's ability to retain natural moisture, and when you wake up in the morning your skin feels soft and fresh. I don´t think guys like kissing ...
