Before Olay, most shower gels were just that: a gel, which would create a lather, smell nice (usually fruity!) and keep you clean, but that was about it. Olay went a step further and provided us with a wash which actually moisturises as well as creating lather, smelling lovely (although not fruity!) and of course keeping you clean. This was a great idea, as showering (especially if you don’t towel dry your skin thoroughly afterwards) can really dry out your skin. This product goes some way to counteract these effects.
The body wash is in a squeezy bottle with a flip top, which is flat on both the top and the bottom. They suggest that once the bottle is less than half full you stand it upside down for ease of pouring. However, I don’t tend to do this until it is almost empty as I find that you actually get too much out in one go if you leave it upside down. It comes in two sizes: 400ml or 200ml. It is, of course, more economical to buy the larger size. However, the smaller size is sometimes available in a ‘starter pack’ together with a free “body puff”. Body puffs were also something of an innovation when this product first came out, but again, most manufacturers have jumped on the aforementioned bandwagon and they can now be bought for under a pound in most chemists.
Olay recommend that you use the wash with a body puff, and state that the 400ml bottle contains enough for 80+ uses with the puff, and the 200ml enough for 40+ uses. I would certainly echo this recommendation. Although I haven’t counted the number of uses I get from the bottle, it does seem to last a very long time. Also, the puff is a great way of working up a lather – a small (roughly 10p sized) blob of the body wash on a puff provides enough lather to wash your whole body. As you lather up the product it has a rich, creamy smell which at the same time is also clean and fresh and not overpowering. The smell lingers on your skin after showering and also makes the bathroom smell nice!
The body wash really does do what it says and moisturises your skin extremely well. I have very dry skin on my arms and legs, so have to admit to using a moisturiser as well, but if I don’t have time to moisturise after showering my skin doesn’t feel anywhere near as dry as it would do if I hadn’t used the body wash. I do suffer from spots on my chest and back, so tend to avoid this area when using the body wash, as it is so rich that I think it would exacerbate this problem. (Incidentally I use Neutrogena Body Clear Body Wash for my spot-prone areas, and have written an opinion on this one too in case anyone is interested!)
Using any kind of body wash, such as this one, is also beneficial because the massaging action of rubbing the product into the skin with a body puff improves circulation, exfoliates and may even reduce the appearance of cellulite (and anything which does this MUST be good!)
Just over a year ago Olay also brought out Daily Renewal Body Wash, which was designed to rejuvenate older skins, and was originally very similar in packaging to the Moisturising Body Wash. They then changed it so it was available in three or four different varieties, much smaller bottles and a higher price! Fortunately the Moisturising Body Wash remained the same!
I can highly recommend Olay Moisturising Body Wash to anyone who suffers from dry skin and wants to supplement their normal moisturiser, or to anyone who doesn’t have time to moisturise on a regular basis as it will definitely make a noticeable difference to your skin. It may be a little more expensive than some, but it lasts such a long time that it would probably be false economy to use anything cheaper.
FOOTNOTE: I actually received this product as a gift and would not have purchased it myself, due to its being made by Proctor and Gamble, a company whose principles on animal testing I strongly disagree with. This was something I did not realise until I had been using the product for some time, and I have since stopped using it. Although I found the product to be most effective I will not be buying it again myself for these personal reasons. However, I have tried to write an objective opinion as I realise that many people will not share my views, and I would not wish to not recommend an otherwise useful product simply on this basis, as I would not wish to inflict my views on readers.

“Hmmmm. Oil of Olay Moisturising Body Wash. That’s a new one. The wee one and her mum must have been scouring the shelves in the local chemist again. And what’s this little sponge thingy for, I wonder?” ~ ~ So it was over to the back of the container to illicit some more info.
“We can prove your skin can feel soft and smooth”, it proclaims.
“Use just one dash of Olay Moisturising Body ... ...experience skin that feels soft and smooth, every single day,” it goes on to add.
OK. So it’s not a sponge, it’s a puff, (original) and you’re supposed to put a dab on and wash yourself down with it, for a truly wonderful, silky smooth, skin.
~ ~ Now any of you who have read my golfing ops, and who also know that I am a taxi-driver, will realise that I spend an awful lot of my waking hours exposed to the elements, whether ...

...moisturising formula, that like other Oil of Olay products, works to mimic the body's own natural moisturisers. What you are supposed to do is wet this net like sponge called a body puff, available with the bottle if you wish to buy as a set, and put about a 10 pence sized drop of the rich creamy white fluid on it. Then rub all over your body and be amazed at the full rich lather that slithers over your skin, cleansing and refreshing your poor tired ... ...puff with a bottle of Oil of Olay Moisturising Body Wash in a starter kit, but keep an eye out as you can also get some quite good puffs seperately at chemists and other shops for as little as 59 pence and perhaps save a bit of cash. Just be sure to feel the quality of the netting however. I once purchased a puff for £1.99, thinking at that price it would be good, and the plastic was NOT soft at all and felt like a pot scouring scrubber! Out it went! ...

Advantages: creamy, moisturising, washes well Disadvantages: bland fragrance, badly designed packaging, inferior to some other brands
...Asda and this one – Oil of Olay’s moisturising body wash. Therefore, when I bought the Oil of Olay one, hubby wasn’t quite sure why I needed it. I tried to explain it was highly recommended by Ciao, but he just raised his eyes skywards and sighed deeply. So I thought I’d plead my case here and try to explain why I bought it, to those who will understand.
I have only become a convert to showers in the last couple of months, ... ...right at the top was Oil of Olay’s moisturising body wash with 96% of opinions recommending it. How could I let this pass me by? I needed to try out the best shower gel, just to see for myself.
I found some in my local chemists and bought a 300ml bottle for £2.65. This is quite expensive compared to Asda’s wonderful Get Fruity shower gel (for less than £1) but comparable to Original Source which sells 250ml of shower gel for £2.49 or ...

...a couple of years ago, Oil of Ulay (or Olay as it seems to be called now) was not a brand name that I would have given a second thought to. As far as I was concerned the brand was associated with the rich, famous, old and sorry mum, my mother. Oil of Olay advertising claimed that their facial creams helped 'reduce the signs of ageing'. Being a fairly young looking 31 year old, this kind of slogan did not appeal to me. I have always wanted to look ... ...now that I am racing towards middle age). If the advertising had said "makes you more attractive to men" or "increases your job prospects" then I might have been tempted! Then I fell for one of those advertising gimmicks. You know the one; post a sample of the product through the door of an unsuspecting homeowner and then reel them in. This sample was a bit different from those I was used to receiving. Not only did it contain a couple of 'very hard ...

Advantages: Good value and by a name you can trust Disadvantages: none
I would recommend Oil of Olays daily renewal bodywash to people with dry skin as it provides 24 hour moisturisation and has a nice distinctive aroma which lasts.
I am a great fan of Olay products and find it a brand you can trust which provides great value for money.
A 200ml bottle of Olaybodywash lasts 40+ uses when used with the Olaybody puff so lasts ages. Daily renewal claims to 'even skin tone and improve elasticity to create beautiful skin' - well it certainly softens skin and is a lovely bathtime product. ...
Advantages: moisturises as it cleans, non greasy feeling, extrememly gentle for most skin types Disadvantages: a bit expensive
My daughter suffers from eczema, and I get dry skin quite often as well, so we try lots of these moisturising bath products. Usually I prefer the Oil of Olaybodywash, but Dove is nearly tied with them in my books.
Made by Lever Brothers and manufactured in Germany, Dove bodywash contains lipids which are made to mimic natural skin oils to help your skin absorb them without being all greasy or feeling "oiled". It is also very gentle, which is probably why it was one of the washes recommended by our GP to try on our year old daughter. It is lightly scented, smelling vaguely like baby powder, so in some sensitive people, it may cause irritation especially in delicate areas.
It comes in an oblong rounded off bottle with a snap close flat flip top lid. It has the familiar blue and white Dove packaging colours and logo very visible so ...
Advantages: Smells lovely and very long lasting Disadvantages: none
Another excellent product from the Oil of Olay range is the moisturising bath foam. Great for sensitive skins, it is dermatologically tested and 100% soap free.
This product smells similar to the bodywash from Olay and it really does go a long way. Just one squirt creates a bath full of bubbles that you just won't want to get out of.
I usually use the bath foam and the bodywash together as they compliment each other nicely. Ideally a women's bath time pleasure, although my boyfriend has been known to have the occasional dip in it! ...
