Oil of Olay has always been my mothers moisturiser of choice, and so its black capped plastic bottle and gold and black logo are a very familiar sight to me, and seeing it on my bathroom shelf at uni makes me feel i have brought a little bit of home with me...(thats along with the cushions, photos, bedding and CD player :) )
I have very dry skin that gets parched and flaky if i dont moisturise regularly and after about four years of everything from Clarins to E-45 to Asda's own brand, i've finally gone back to what i was using when i was 15...except these days i have my own bottle, and don't just steal my mums!
As a student, i dont have much cash to spend on frivolities such as moisturiser, but Oil of Olay is a true snip at just £3.99 for a nice big bottle of the stuff (200ml) that lasts for weeks.
Oil of Olay describes itself as "active beauty fluid hypo-allergenic non greasy moisturiser" (seeks dry yet receptive neck and face to soften, smoothen and light up.Age not an issue)It is suitable for sensitive skin. The bottle also offers a number to ring for personalised skincare advice-;08009177197.This is freephone.
And now i have it i understand why my mum has been using it since she was sixteen 1.she still looks really young, as she has looked after her skin.Good move, and the earlier one starts, the better! 2.It really is non greasy, easily absorbed, light and yet effective 3.i like the smell, not sure if thats because i associate it with childhood and my mums dressing table, but its an inoffensive, and some might say pleasant smelling fluid 4.it really does seem to work, my face is nice and soft with no dry patches or scaly, flaky skin. I now have the plump-glowing-dewy face of youth and intend to keep it that way for many a year.
its good mixed with a bit of foundation for a lighter cover-up, too.
The only bad things i could say are purley aesthetic and superficial, and that is that the packaging and image is more M&S than Urban Decay, and it may fail to appeal to a younger market,i do feel a bit of a grown-up when im using it. Makes me want to slink myself into a pair of 15 denier tights, court shoes and a business suit!
