Don’t you just love the British weather? In the autumn/winter months it is cold, rainy, windy and just, down right miserable. In the spring/summer months, it is warm/hot and sometimes uncomfortably humid. With this in mind, we need to be looking after our skin and use a good moisturiser that can handle all the above weather conditions.
The face is the first thing we notice about each other. They come in different shapes, sizes, tones and skin types. Some are “normal” (whatever that means), some are greasy/oily, some are prone to spots and some are extra sensitive. So we need to be talking about something that is appropriate for all types of skin.
I would guess my face is “normal”. Its not greasy/oily, not prone to spots (only at a certain time of the month, but we all know what that is due to) and my face isn’t particularly extra sensitive. I moisturise my face 2-3 three times a day, whenever I wash my face.
Since their name change from Oil of Ulay to Oil of Olay, Oil of Olay now have a wide range of products to offer. These include: Special Care Range, Essential Care Range, Cleansing Range.
I use their Moisturising Fluid from their Complete Care range. This is because a) I don’t really need to be using any of the wrinkle creams, anti-ageing products which are all part of the Special Care Range. b) the other two products that make up the Complete Care Range are Day Cream and Night Cream. c) the Cleansing Range consists of facial scrubs, washes, cleansers and toners. So all I need is a plain and simple moisturiser.
The Moisturising Fluid from the Complete Care Range is presented in a 200ml, square, creamy, white, plastic bottle topped with a black screw cap. On the front of the bottle, amongst the name of the product is the Olay lady logo. Full application/direction details appear on the back of the bottle along with full ingredients listing. This bottle is then presented on our supermarket / chemist shelves in a box just big enough and costs £4.95. A bottle this size normally lasts me about 2 months, which I think is excellent value for money.
Applying this moisturiser is very therapeutic (well that’s what I think anyway). Once you have washed and cleansed your face and patted dry (never rub your face dry), lightly squeeze a small amount of moisturiser (about the size of a 20 pence piece), and gently massage into your face. It absorbs quickly and it leaves your skin feeling really fresh and “wide awake”. The moisturiser itself is a lovely, smooth white substance and smells like fresh flowers in a summer breeze, its not overpowering at all. It states clearly on the bottle not to use the product around the eyes. Being forgetful sometimes, I always forget this and end up massaging my whole face, including the eye area. I am immediately reminded by the stinging and flow of tears pouring down my face. It only lasts a few seconds and easily rectified by drying my eyes with a piece to tissue. The stinging has gone! Please do what Olay state and do not use near the eye area.
This product absorbs into the skin very quickly and does not appear greasy afterwards. This makes it a great moisturised base for applying foundation make-up.
The Complete Care Moisturising Fluid is hypo-allergenic and is suitable for all skin types. It does state on the bottle that the moisturiser is Dermatologically tested. The complete Care Moisturising Fluid contains vitamins and minerals, which helps protect the skin from UVA and UVB rays (these are the main causes of premature ageing).
I would definitely recommend this product for both women and men - there’s nothing wrong with men moisturising too (they don’t have to tell anyone they do it, to keep their masculinity). We all need to look after our skin, especially with the good old British weather we encounter.

Olay is a fairly good economical moisturiser.Nice smell and texture but no where near moisturising enough.I tend to stick to Decleor products,because im a snob!No not really,they just work well for me!xx

Us guys are often accused of neglecting our skin - some preferring the "rough look". However us "modern men" do try to look after our skin, and there are many ranges of creams and "beauty products" out there for us. I recently took part in a product test on the mens version of this product - and it really was excellent. After just a few days of testing, the effects were noticable. Great review... Scott
