...came across a freebie called OILATUM SCALP TREATMENT SHAMPOO. So I thought I would give it a go.
I have heard of this brand, but the prices of their products do put me off a bit as they range from £3.69 up to £9.00 odd all depending on what you are getting. So I thought having a freebie sent to me would let me try it out before parting with my good cash.
My freebie consisted of two 10ml sachets of this shampoo, which ... ...a little white sachet with OILATUM SCALP in white and green lettering on a blue background with TREATMENT SHAMPOO in green underneath, and on the back is a list of ingredients, directions for use and the address of the manufacturer. I do believe this is the same as the full size bottle.

Before you all think I am some dirty woman who dosen't look after myself Dandruff is NOT caused by poor hair care or lack of personal hygiene.
It is caused by too many dead skin cells (which we shed all the time) and dandruff is when these cells clump together to form white flakes that can be seen in your hair and on your clothes. And what makes it worse is a fungal yeast called MALASSEZIA FURFUR. This lives on the clumped skin cells. The more cells the better the yeast likes it, and the harder it is to get rid of. **************************************************************************************
I normally use Head and Shoulders and this always does the trick for me, but after searching a few freebie sites. (always check these out like mad near my holiday as I find sample packs great to take away with you). I came across a freebie called OILATUM SCALP TREATMENT SHAMPOO. So I thought I would give it a go.

This is a little white sachet with OILATUM SCALP in white and green lettering on a blue background with TREATMENT SHAMPOO in green underneath, and on the back is a list of ingredients, directions for use and the address of the manufacturer. I do believe this is the same as the full size bottle.
THE CONTENTS *************
This shampoo is clear with a mild non medicated fragrance. It contains no colourants or preservatives. This size sample gave me one aplication. (I have short hair). It has an anti fungal agent called Ciclopirox olamine which treats the underlying cause of your dandruff by reducing the amount of fungal yeast on the scalp. It also has a soothing effect to help relieve the itching.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE *******************
Wet hair Massage the shampoo into your scalp until theres plenty of lather. Leave for 3 - 5 mins then rinse thoroughly. Repeat if needed (I found one aplication was enough) You can use your normal conditioner if you so wish.
It suggests you use this twice weekly alongside your normal shampoo and it will clear your dandruff and improve the condition of your scalp.
After several weeks of use, you can cut it down to using it once a week as this will usually be enough to keep your scalp clear.
Obviously if your dandruff dosen't clear or any irritation occurs stop using and see your doctor or speak to your pharmacist.
MY OVERALL VIEW ****************
I have used both sachets and I have seen and felt a great improvement in my hair and scalp. My hair feels very clean and my itching as dramactically reduced. There is no sign of any dandruff which gives me a lot more confidence. I would defientely spend that extra bit of dosh to keep my hair and scalp in tip top condition.
This shampoo is avaliable without prescription in any good chemist or supermarket and as I said this was a sample, I cannot give you an exact price or size of bottle. (I did check in boots, but they had run out - see thats how good it is). But as soon as I get a price I will ammend.
I do strongly recommend this without a doubt.

For a 100ml bottle. Now you get up off the floor. You can buy it from most large chemists and stores. It is supposed to be a clear shampoo, but to me it looks like a pale lemon juice colour. It smells quite nice, a fresh smell neither sickly sweet /sour or medicated. So it is ideal for men and women.
It has an anti-fungal agent to treat dandruff, and itching flaky scalps.
It doesn’t ... ...How to use it:
Wet your hair, put the same amount of shampoo on your hair, just like you do with ordinary shampoo and massage it gently all over your head. Leave on for 3-5 minutes. Rinse thoroughly, and repeat if necessary.
Use it twice a week for two weeks and after that just use it once a week. What’s in it.

...wash because you have dandruff. Oilatum Scalp Treatment Shampoo is the cure.
Its ingredients; Aqua, sodium laureth sulphate, cocamidopropyl betaine, polysorbate 80, cocamide DEA, hexylene glycol, ciclopirox olamine, oleyl alcohol, citric acid, disodium phosphate, polyquaternium 10, parfum. Like most people I have no idea what that means but what ever it is, it works well.
Its smell is very nice. Its a clear liquid with a fresh smell making it ideal ... ...Wet your hair, put the same amount of shampoo on your hair, just like you do with ordinary shampoo and massage it gently over your head. Leave it on for 3-5 minutes. Rinse thoroughly, and repeat if necessary.
It costs £7.99 for a 50ml bottle from all good pharmacists or like me gets it on prescription. It is expensive but spending a couple more pounds on a shampoo so that you loose dandruff is worth it. I don't know if anyone cares but the bottle ...

Advantages: Very Stable, Permenent Results Disadvantages: SLow in effecting
I had a major problem in the fact that not only did I have Dandruff in my hair I also had a hair line witch was receding for the centre. I visited and my hair specialist said I was the victim of pimples due to dandruff, that expelled a furore from me and I had to do something about it. I used to adopt head and shoulders but that would eat through my hair and before I’d know I’d be bald.
I adopted Scalp Shamp about two months ago for two reasons ... ...my scalp (affected area) with the shampoo would stop any diminishing or thinning of a hairline and my dandruff would be eliminated as well. Since I used it I can hardly see any difference in my Scalp situation and that’s a great thing because the hair on my scalp was diminishing rapidly, remember scalp slowly but surely eliminates any problem with a receding hair line paving way for a further hair treatment to increase hair. Advantages: Clears up dry/itchy scalp that other shampoos don't touch Disadvantages: Makes hair soft so fine hair can go limp
...upon a trial sample of oilatum shampoo in Tescos one day.
Although it does not lather up very impressively the smell is pleasant and it does make the hair very soft. Most importantly it cleared up my dry head after the first use.
I now use Oilatum once a week to maintain the moisture balance although I am finding it hard to come by. Luckily the company who make it are very generous at sending samples and as you only need to use it in small amounts ... ...I find that it can make my hair very soft and as I have fine hair it can make it very limp but I can live with that for a couple of days to get rid of the dry scalp.
Even my husband commented about how soft my hair was therefore I think that speaks for itself! ...

Quick review of Oilatum Scalp Treatment Shampoo
I've tried t gel, selsun blue and poly tar, all worked for a little while while but the itch returned and in the case of t gel it started to really irritate my scalp when i continued to use it.
However i've been using oilatum for about five to six months now and it works. the only drawback is that the instructions recommend only to use it a couple of times a week. i use it daily because the itch returns even when i wash my hair everyday with normal shampoo and so far it's working well ...
