As the sun came out last week I was feeling a little pasty. Even though I have recently been on holiday, I do not really tan. I am one of those people who is light blue when pale, and bright white with freckles when "tanned". Anyway, I decided to pop into my local Boots to see if I could find any nice make up to make me feel a little more summery. As I browsed I had a look at my usual Olay section to see if they had anything new. This is when I found the Olay Complete Care Everyday Sunshine. Everyday Sunshine is a moisturiser that has a touch of sunless tanner and which comes in 2 shades - one for the lighter skin which may achieve a tone up to 2 shades darker and one for darker skin tones which can achieve a skin tone up to 3 times darker. The tube for the lighter skin promised a light sun-kissed glow for the paler skin - perfect! I immediately grabbed it and headed to the till where I parted with £4 to be able to go home with my discovery.
When I inspected the cream a little more carefully I found that the tube contains 50 ml, which is small for an Olay moisturiser. It is yellow and has a really nice, smooth feel to it making it seem a bit luxurious, even though it is just good old Olay and not Helena Rubenstein (well, I am easily pleased…). The reason I chose Olay rather than another moisturiser/tanner is that I have very sensitive skin and I have found that Olay is one of the few products that will not give me an allergic reaction. Still, I can never be sure when I try a new product if it will give me a rash or not so I was a little bit nervous about trying this.
The back of the tube promises that the cream contains everything your skin needs most: nourishing Olay moisture, skin pampering vitamin E, a touch of sunless tanner and, best of all, SPF15. I often forget to put on sun protection, especially in the spring when you never know when the sun might come out, so to have it in my day cream is ideal. It is recommended that you apply the cream every day, or even several times a day if you want to deepen the glow. The cream is very easy to apply, just put it on like your normal day cream, by massaging it onto your face and neck concentrating on the areas the sun normally shows first, cheeks, nose and forehead. Be sure to cover your whole face carefully so you do not end up with white bits anywhere - around the hairline is very easy not to do properly. As there is self tanning in the cream be careful to wash your hands after you have applied it or you will end up with telltale orange hands.
I found the cream very easy to apply and it has a pleasant, fresh smell, unlike most self tanning creams. As the cream is white it can be hard to see where you have applied it, so I am always careful to massage my whole face properly, not forgetting the neck. The first day I used it I was relieved to find that I had no allergic reaction whatsoever to it. It left my skin feeling smooth and also left a faint, flowery scent that stayed on my skin for an hour or so. At first I was disappointed with the tanning effect, as I could not tell a difference in my skin tone at all. However, when I had used it for 2 days there was some effect. My face looked lightly tanned and there were no visible streaks or lines anywhere. Somebody at work even turned around and said I looked tanned! Now trust me, for someone to say that I look tanned is a once in a blue moon event, so I felt pretty pleased.
According to Olay's website this moisturiser has some DHA in it which reacts with the upper layers of skin in order to create golden pigments to give a natural looking tan. Now, I am not sure how this works at all but it does seem to work.
I would definitely buy this product again as it is a good moisturiser which also gives you a healthy glow, rather than a full on orange fake tan. I really liked the natural look that it gave; nobody has yet figured out that my newly tanned face is not thanks to the sun at all. I think this product is most suitable for younger skin (40 and under) as it is quite light. Even though it has not given me an allergic reaction it may well give someone else with sensitive skin a reaction as it is not a 'sensitive' product. I would also be careful to choose the right colour for you, light or dark, in order to ensure you get the best result. A suggestion is to build up the colour you want by applying the cream every day, or even a couple of times a day. When you have reached the right glow, I find you only need to apply the cream every couple of days to maintain the colour.
If you want a sun-kissed glow while protecting your skin from the harmful and ageing effects of the sun this is the product for you.

Now, the only problem I have is that I am worried my body will start to look awfully white in comparison with my glowing face so I am off out to buy one of those new body lotions with added tanner…

...I went along to the Olay display and voila I found this little beauty .Right alongside the moisturiser , newly on the shelf in almost the same packaging was Olay Complete Care Everyday Sunshine. I picked up the tester and found it also had the exact same mandarin extract fragrance of the moisturiser and not that awful self tanning lotion smell. Without hesitation I bought myself a tube.I am not sure what the actual recommended selling price in Boots ... ..., I have no excuse. Olay is a I brand I trust, so I decided to give it a whirl and give my skin a rest from the sunbeds.

I didn't want to just go and soak up the rays, even though suprisingly I do tan very nicely, because of the damage that almost certainly does occur, so this seeemed like the best idea. It is packaged in a white and bronze-gold box with two sections cut out to reveal the product inside. It looks very luxurious and expensive, and inspired enough confidence in me to buy it. For 50ml of cream ... ...hoped.
Like most other Olay products it is classically understated and doesn't claim to transform your skin, nor lure you with false promises. I opened the lovely box to find a gently-metalised primrose coloured plastic tube with a marine-blue flip-lid. It has the Olay logo on the top and says "Moisturiser with a touch of sunless tanner". It has a picture of the sun surrounded by blue circles, semi-circles and sun-rays, and looks generally pleasing ...

Obviously it won't give you an all-over tan, like a few weeks abroad would, but it will make you look like you've spent your fair share of hours in the British sunshine, and give you a healthy sun-kissed glow on your face, just as the snazzy little product describes on it's packaging.
Olay Complete Care Everyday Sunshine can be bought in two types of packaging, a tall, thin box or a ... ...however the tube that I will be reviewing happens to be the more popular tall and thin, 50ml box. The box has a white packaging, that fades into a golden colour towards the bottom of the box. On the front of the box is the word 'OLAY' in capital black writing, and underneath are the words 'complete care'. Below this in blue, underlined writing is 'EVERYDAY SUNSHINE', with a short description of the product, 'moisturiser with a touch of sunless tanner'. ...

Advantages: Nice even glow, with spf15 and can wear make-up on top! Disadvantages: Orange fingernails.
My mum actually picked this out for me. I have very pale skin with freckles and never tan. I tend to burn which can sometimes if i'm lucky go brown, but rarely stays and in general I mostly just develop more freckles, therefore, my mum saw this and thought it would be good for me. It's a moisturiser that gradually builds up a subtle tan over time.
I've used it for about a month now and am very happy with the results. I have a nice even glow on my ... ...once a day to avoid becoming too tanned and orange. Once a day seems suffice to gain an even tan. It's especially great in that it has an spf of 15, because I am able to apply it everyday it means that when there is an unexpected spout of sunshine I am already protected from the sun and do not have to worry.
The texture is quite light and silky and is not greasy when applied to the skin. I feel that it rubs in easily and the best thing about it ...
