Advantages Advantages Cheap, easy to make, very tasty

Disadvantages Disadvantages Other ingredients such as cheese, sour cream not included

I am quite partial to Mexican food and was very pleased when I found the Old El Paso Nacho dinner kit at my local Tesco. Cost As I mentioned, I buy these kits from Tesco and here its costs £2.50 for the kit. There are other Tesco's own kits which are nearly half the price but I guess you are paying that bit extra for the brand name of Old El Paso. How Many People Will The Kit Cater For? My girlfriend and I share this kit and it does us both for a main meal of an evening. If you are having a dinner party, then these kits could be made up and shared between several people as a snack food. If you ... more

Advantages Advantages Quick and easy to prepare

Disadvantages Disadvantages The cost, and the fact the kit doesn't provide everything you need...

First off I love Mexican food! Since discovering fajitas a few years back they have become my all time favourite dinner. But I digress; this review is about the 'Kit for Nachos' by Old El Paso. Nachos are always great for nibbles when you have friends round, or if you want a snack. WHAT THE KIT CONTAINS The Nacho Kit of 520g includes Nachips and two sachets of nachos topping. You need to provide your own grated cheese. Using 125g of grated cheese with the kit the pack suggests this will feed 3-4 people. Personally I think it's more likely to feed 2-3 people, or half a pack would feed one ... more

Advantages Advantages A quick, easy snack to prepare!

Disadvantages Disadvantages A bit of a let down, and a bit pricey!

I really enjoy eating Mexican food at home as well as when out in restaurants and pubs and one thing that I really enjoy in particular is a hearty plate of nachos. I have bought some supermarket-own branded nacho dinner kits in the past which usually contain a bag of nacho or tortilla chips and a sachet of sauce or tomato salsa. I had never tried out the nacho dinner kit from the ‘Old El Paso’ range before but bought it recently to try it out. I paid around £1.50 for the 520g kit, from a local branch of The Co-operative supermarket recently and I believe this price was part of a special ... more

Advantages Advantages Very quick and easy to make, very tasty, can easily be spiced up

Disadvantages Disadvantages Cheese not included in kit

PACKAGING Old El Paso Nacho kit comes in a bright yellow box, with a red top. There is a small picture of cacti with mountains in the background which I am assuming is for a Mexican theme seeing as Nachos are considered to be a Mexican dish. There is a picture of Nachos on the front, along with a bowl of salsa and guacamole. The kit I am basing this review on is a 520g box. On the front and back of the book, there is a list of the items included in the kit. Also, on the back of the box are directions for cooking in English and also in two other languages although I am not sure as to what the ... more

Advantages Advantages Addictive, tasty. More-ish. High quality.

Disadvantages Disadvantages You gotta bring your own cheese. Expensive!

This thing about it being "dinner". Let's make this clear from the word go. It's NOT. It's a flippin' SNACK. Approach it with that in mind and you won't be getting acute anxiety or existential dread caused by having to think through the philosophy of "is it or isn't it?". Yeah, it's great for eating as snack on its own or as a starter to a Mexican-themed meal but anyone offering this as a meal would be ridden out of town on his or her own burro... Ok? Clear? Sorted! The box. This is predominantly red and yellow, not my favourite colours, I have to say. But the box , while being obviousley ... more
