ProEasy. Authentic. Quick. cheap

ConsNo vegetarian recipe on box. Salsa.

Anyone familiar with my old account here on Ciao will know that I class myself as being a bit of a dab hand in the kitchen. I love food, eating in, eating out it makes no difference I’m totally in my element when surrounded by food. Being vegetarian I often find that most meals worked best made...

“Texas Tacos in a Box”

published 28/05/2007

Pronearly as good as homemade

Conssoft taco version messy

Tacos are a Mexican food that is very popular in the United States. Those of you who have read my homemade taco recipe review over at Dooyoo will already know all about the origins of the taco and how much I LOVE tacos. I have to say, Mexican food was one thing I seriously missed when I first...

Protastes good once you get it all going!

Consfalls apart too easily

My partner and I are always experimenting in the kitchen and looking for new dishes to cook. I am a fussy person who enjoys eating a wide variety of food, and can get bored quite easily, so the other day when we popped to tesco to do a bit of food shopping he suggested we try make Tacos for...

“Who needs Taco Bell.”

published 22/07/2002

ProGreat packet of goodies

ConsNot enough Salsa

When you think of Tacos do you think of the American restaurant chain Taco Bell? I did for years without actually knowing what Tacos were. Sounded good. looked good but what did they taste like? Well, the answer arrived in my doorstep, (well, shopping Trolley) when My wife first bought a Taco...

“Tasty Taco's”

published 16/08/2010

ProQuick and easy, tasty

ConsCertain items not included in pack, expensive

Having not tried the Old El Paso Taco Kit before and finding a mountain of mince in the freezer which needed using up, I thought I would give this product a try. Packaging The packaging is bright yellow with red outlining made to look like a Mexican building. The kit itself is A5 size and about 2...

ProReally tasty

ConsDoesn't include the minced beef or cheese

I really like to eat different things for dinner each day, I try never to serve the same meal twice in one week. So last week I went and bought Old El Paso Taco Dinner Kit. I really like Taco's as they give a bit of flavour and a nice change to your normal diet. I don't like to buy the ready made...

“Not your Mama's tacos.”

published 05/03/2003

ProSimple to make, tasty

ConsNot authentic!

I grew up on this stuff. These actually ARE my Mama's tacos, but what does an Irish-American woman in New York know about Mexican food? Nada. I became addicted to Taco Bell in the 90's, and on road trips a bunch of tacos is a quick and cheap way of filling up. Well this all changed when I moved...

“Mexican Madness”

published 10/07/2008

ProTasty, quick, versatile

ConsPrice, messy

I currently live with my boyfriend who is a very fussy eater, and so finding meals which are a bit different and tasty can sometimes be difficult. I bought these purely because they were on offer at my local supermarket, and was pleasantly surprised. They were incredibly easy and quick to cook...

“Not quite a meal in a box”

published 31/12/2004

ProQuick and tasty

ConsNeed to add loads of stuff

It's a meal all my family enjoy which is a rare thing, What you get for your money 8 Taco Shells - To put your ingredients in. 1 Sachet of Salsa - Tomatoes and Peppers in it 1 Packet of Taco Seasoning. If you pay full price for the kit (usually between 2 and 3 pounds) this seems pretty poor value...
