I wont go into the full tech spec here - its widely avaliable. 2 Megapixel, Picture Zoom, Flash and 8MB card is all you really need to know - the tech spec is widely avaliable on the net if you are looking for more detail. I just feel this is a basic camera and doesnt need that much explanation!

The camera came with an 8MB SmartMedia card in the box, a USB wire for connection to the PC but nothing else other than the camera and instruction books. There was also a quick guide leaflet as well. I have been debating the whole digital camera thing for a long time, but after having to fork out over £20 to get my last 3 35mm films developed i decided to bite the bullet and purchase a digital camera.
There was no specific reason why i chose this model over any other, it was more down to the price was excellent at £120, it looked simple to uise and had a great air of familiarity about its looks, very reminisant of the old 35mm cameras you used to get back in the 90's, which for someone like me made the hwole thing a lot easier to digest, and the Olympus name is one of the more well known on the market!

Now i dont want you thinking i am phobic about techology - i am an electronics engineer! But lets just say when it comes to personal buying i tend to proceed with caution.
The camera came with an 8MB SmartMedia card in the box, a USB wire for connection to the PC but nothing else other than the camera and instruction books. There was also a quick guide leaflet as well. The instruction books is not bad - but maybe it could contain a more useful troubleshooting guide and the quick start leaflet could have more useful information about saving settings, which confused me for a while as every time i switched the camera off i lost my settings and couldnt work out why for a good hour!
The screen resolution is quite good on the back, though a bit jerky with the video clip option. You can zoom in and out of the picture, and the pictures are very clear once downloaded. You have all the usual digital camera features - preview, auto flash, zoom, picture board, picture quality for more or less pictures, white balance, auto balance, but come on - how many of us normal people really need to use this at home! It seems to work quite well in bad weather as well, i took it on a rainy day to Mallaig and the pictures were amazing given how poor the conditions were.
The part which did impress me the most though was how easy it was to download the pictures to a PC. USB cabel plugs in, no programmes need to be loaded up at all, and the PC works out you have a Smartmedia card, previes the pictures, allows you to download them and will do an automatic delete of pictures on the camera if you so choose. And it saves them into a simple pictures folder where you can use tham as you please. Its so simple, i cant actually think of anything else to say about it!
On the downside the battery consumption is poor, but it all depends how you want to use it. Rechargaables are naturally the way to go, but if like me you only really want it for occasional use such as Ebay and the odd day out, then normal batteries last long enough providing you dont use the screen all the time and avoid small video clips which seems to drain energy.
Overall, a good product which i would not hesitate to recommend for anyone who needs a decent camera for occasional use, with big buttons and simplicity thrown in.
Advantages: viewfinder, price, quality and ease Disadvantages: cant take good quality pics of moving items
...also has in big letters OLYMPUS C-120. Under the flash it has CAMEDIA in red letters and DIGITAL CAMERA in small capitals underneath. At the bottom in also states that this camera sports a 2.0 mega pixel quality which is much better than my own which is 1.2 mega pixels. On the top it has all of the technical info and the pusher which is in a grey style colour. The back is also grey and has the 2.5cm X 3cm viewfinder at the left side and the buttons ... ...Well this completely depends where you buy it. At Argos they are £150 at Amazon they are £120 and at ebay they are £75. It just depends were you find the best deal. My advice is to shop around and see if you can get a good deal.
BATTERIES BEWARE!-
This camera eats batteries for its breakfast! It takes 4 AA batteries and they are gone fast! So if you need your camera for something important take extra batteries!!!!!

Advantages: Price, general photo quality, ease of use Disadvantages: not good for the professional, size, Quality of pics in low light or that are moving, SmartMedia Card
Bought mine a few months back, and I must say I am extremely pleased with it. It is billed as being a 2MP camera, which I thought would be plenty. (At work we are still using an older 1.6MP camera that cost us hundreds of pounds and it works fine)
Got the camera with a free case and a free 64Mb card (Smart Media Card) The Camera is a breeze to use, and has a variety of exposure and flash settings.

When I first used the camera and uploaded the shots to my nice 17" LCD monitor on the PC, I must say I was a bit dissapointed. Some pics tend to look a bit grainy and you can see the JPEG compression in them. Printing them on standard photo paper through an inkjet didnt help. All was not lost however, as ...

Advantages: Easy to use, quality pictures and video clips Disadvantages: no sound on vid clips, Eats batteries!
I got this camera as a first digital camera and had a budget of £150. I got this one for £120 and it has paid for itself. The memory card that comes with it (8Mb) doesnt hold many high quality pictures. I bought a 128Mb card and it holds more pictures than i can dream of taking!

You cant use cheap batteries, they take 1 or 2 pictures before they wont charge the camera. buy a set of duracell ad they last for ages though.

Advantages: Easy to use, very strong with remarkably good output Disadvantages: could look a bit better, screen is a bit small
I have now owned this camera for nearly five years and, despite the inevitable scratches, chinks in the paintwork and general grubbiness, it still works like a dream. Let me put this into perspective for you - I am an archaeologist, my phone has been on muddy digs, fieldtrips and a whole host of unpleasant places... If I can't break it, no one can! The picture quality is incredibly good considering it is only 2.0 megapixels, I have used several of ... ...blown-up for powerpoint presentations. The operation of the camera is incredibly simple; it has digital zoom rather than optical but still copes well either close-up or over a distance. It automatically adjusts to different lighting conditions so, to be honest, I've never really needed to fart about with the advanced settings. As well as pictures, the camedia can capture short bouts of film (about fifteen seconds I think) and has a microphone so ...

Here is an ideal model for all those who want an affordable, easy-to-use digital camera that also assures top-rate performance. Successor to the award-winning C-100, the CAMEDIA C-120 does not only deliver effortless handling and a great price. Featuring 2-megapixel resolution, precision automatic operation, numerous flash modes and a top-quality optical system, it delivers results that impress both on screen and when printed. One of the leading manufacturers of digital cameras and with over 80 years' experience in optics and technology, Olympus enjoys an excellent reputation for creating first-class, innovative solutions. The CAMEDIA C-120 guarantees digital shooting enjoyment. Without great prior knowledge or in-depth study of the manual, the user can start shooting straight after inserting the batteries and SmartMedia card. The camera's quality Olympus lens (5 elements in 5 groups), automatic systems and, if necessary, various flash modes take care of the rest. Shots may be viewed on the built-in LCD monitor immediately after capture and retaken if required. This is useful in cases where, for example, the subject has closed his or her eyes or the framing was not perfect.Of course, the results can also be printed out. The C-120 produces photos with a resolution of up to 1.96 million pixels (effective), which may be printed in A4 format. When compared with prints from a 35 mm compact camera, there is hardly any noticeable difference in quality. Users wishing to exert more influence over image composition can select pre-set white balance settings as well as choose between digital ESP or spot exposure metering. Exposure correction is also available. The photographer is also provided with a movie function, allowing sequences to be recorded in QuickTime Motion JPEG format. The resulting footage can not only be played on the camera's LCD but, due to the file's high-compression ratio, also be integrated into websites or sent via email. The easy-to-understand camera menu ensures effortless operation. Through the 4.1-cm TFT LCD display, the user is shown the time, date and selected settings. The LCD also acts as a viewfinder when shooting and displays the images after capture so they may be checked and enjoyed immediately. Even downloading the picture data to a PC is easy. Thanks to USB AutoConnect compatibility, the camera is automatically recognized as an external drive once connected to a computer. With the help of the CAMEDIA Master 4.0 software that is supplied with the camera, image files (stills and movies) can be archived, sorted, edited and processed. The software also includes different templates for producing individualized photo albums, calendars and postcards. Combining the latest digital technology, user-friendly features and an attractive price, the Olympus CAMEDIA C-120 wins on every count.
good value, good mode selection, good quality, well built, canon quality, good battery life, good resolution and quality, good manual controls, good LCD
clumpy, clunky design and controls, too big to be a true compact, interface pauses, zoom irritating, not worth the upgrade from G3 (*)
