I got this camera around Christmas last year and haven't turned back. I now realise the benefits that digital cameras have over the old 'film' cameras.
When I go on holiday I always take loads of pictures and pay a bomb to have them developed, for most of them to be either completely rubbish or not turn out at all. This is not the case with digital cameras where you can view the pictures and then choose whether to delete them or keep them. The quality of the pictures is excellent, very clear, good colour. The only problem I have is keeping it in one piece when I go out drinking! (it has very nearly been dropped in a pint on several occasions!)

The Olympus Camedia C-1 is an excellent camera and well within budget at between £150-175 (don't know the exact amount, it was a present!)

It has a 1.31 Megapixel matrix. Its small enough to fit into your pocket. The camera is switched on by moving the lens cover. Once the lens cover is open, you use it just like any other camera, press the button on the top, right hand side. The other controls for navigation, such as monitor, and scroll keys are located on the back of the camera on the left hand side. This is convienient as it means you don't catch any of the buttons when shooting.

It is very simple to use. To look at pictures all you need to do is press and hold the monitor button for a few seconds. Then you are able to scroll through the pictures. To delete a picture all you need to do is go to the picture you wish to delete, press menu and scroll to yes on delete. You can also do many other things from the menu, such as locking pictures so they don't get deleted, deleting all pictures and changing the contrast.

The camera is equipped with a lens with a constant focal length equal to 4.5 mm and 1/ 2.8 aperture ratio. It also has an optical viewfinder and an LCD display. It is hard to distinguish anything on it in bright light. The camera is connected to a computer via a USB port. There is a video-out and a connector for an external power supply unit. It is possible to buy Smart Media Card Readers instead of fiddling around with leads. These come with their own auto detection software which makes it much easier to upload your pictures

The camera is powered by two AA rechargeable batteries or alkaline batteries, or from a proprietary Li battery OLYMPUS CR-V3. I would recommend using rechargeable batteries as it uses quite a lot of power and it would cost loads to keep buying new batteries

Hi I'm sorry to be the one bad apple who gives you a lower rating, and as such I thought you deserved an explination as to why. If I was buying a digital camera I would want to know the following before I parted with my pennies. How many pictures will the internal memory hold at its best resolution and can you alter the image quality to enable the camera to hold more photos. Is it supplied with an extra memory card. How long do the batterys actually last and how easy is it to upload the pictures and finally what software is it supplied with. If you update please let me know..Baz
