SPECIFICATIONS -
Wide 1.8inch LCD screen Optical real image view finder QuickTime motion JPEG PictBridge compatible 5 scene programmes Megapixel - 3.2 Optical 3X zoom Seamless 10X zoom Picture Card xD Compatible Auto USB Connect
SHOOTING MODES -
Program Auto: (Factory default setting) Use this one for regualr photography. The camera automatically makes the settings for natural colour balance. Other functions e.g the flash mode and metering can be adjusted manually.
Portrait: This can be used to take a portrait-style shot of someone. The camera automatically sets the optimal shooting conditions.
Landscape + Portrait: Suitable for taking photos of your subject and the landscape. The camera automatically sets the optimal shooting conditions.
Landscape: Use for taking pictures of landscapes and other outdoor scenes. The camera automatically sets the optimal shooting conditions.
Night scene: Suitable for taking pictures at night or the evening. The camera uses a slower shutter speed than usual (in normal shooting) to allow more light in so you get a better picture. It enables the true appearance of the scene, instead of blackness and dots of lights. The camera automatically sets the optimal shooting conditions.
Self portrait: This lets you take a picture of yourself. Hold the camera infront of you, pointing the lens at yourself and the focus will automatically lock on you. In this mode the zoom is fixed in the wide position and cannot be changed.
Movie: Lets you record movies. The camera maintains the correct focus and exposure even if your subject moves. However you cannot record sound.
USING THE FLASH -
There are different settings:
Auto-flash - The flash fires automatically in low light or backlight conditions. Red eye reduction flash - It significantly reduces red eye by emitting pre-flashes before firing the regular flash. This mode is very useful! Fill-in flash - The flash fires regardless of the available light. Flash Off - The flash doesnt fire even in low light conditions.
ADVANCED SHOOTING -
Sequential shooting - Allows you to take a rapid succession of still pictures by pressing and holding the shutter button (approx 12 pics at 1.5 frames per second). This is great for moving subjects as it enables you to choose the best picture. Focus, exposure and white balance are locked at the first frame. You can also erase the unwanted shots.
POWER SUPPLY -
It takes 1 CR-V3 lithium battery pack or 2 AA (R6) alkaline batteries or NiMH batteries.
OTHER GENERAL FUNCTIONS -
Self timer Quick view (second mode on mode select slider on camera) Movie Playback Protecting Pictures (cannot be erased) Erase pictures ( single frame erase or all frame erase) Card setup - formatting cards (formatting enables cards to receive data)
MEMORY CARD -
The camera is supplied with a standard xD picture card (with panoramic function) The card supplied is 16mb which holds 20 standard still shot pictures. This is perfect for me at the moment as just take the pictures I need and then download to my computer and erase them from the camera.
WHAT THE CAMERA COMES WITH -
Camera (of course!) Strap 16 MB xD-picture card Alkaline batteries (2 pack) USB cable (connect camera to computer to download pics) Instruction manual Warranty card Software CD-ROM (utility software)
HOW EASY IS THE CAMERA TO USE -
I had used other digital cameras before so I had vague idea of how to use one. I am the person who always reads the instruction manual before I use the product so I found it very easy. The instructions are very simple and you get a main manual, a quick start up guide and lots of other info on the card, warranty etc.
I would recommend this camera to the beginnera as it has the basic functions that you need, the picture quality is still very good though. The images are crisp and sharp, all colours shown as they are in real life.
The batteries supplied with the camera do not last very long so I have brought rechargeable ones.
Not a lot else I can say I think, apart from great camera!
Advantages: Excellent Quality Pictures Disadvantages: Battery Life
...present, having already owned an Olympus 1.3 Megapixel camera and being very pleased with it I really wanted an optical zoom.
I have to say that I am extremely pleased with the camera.
The most important thing for any digital camera is the quality of the photo's. They are very impressive, clear with good detail. The 3.2 Megapixels really helps.
The 3x optical zoom works a treat. I always found with my old camera that it took wide shots and I couldn't ... ...other feature that my old Olympus camera didn't have is a night mode. You can take good quality night shots, but you need to keep the camera totally still due to the long shutter speed used. I use this mode quite a lot.
The Interface
==========
The menu system is quite easy to use, it takes a little while to get used to where the options you need are. Having said that once you've used it for a bit they become second nature.
One button I use a ...

Advantages: Lots of features! Disadvantages: You can't plug it into the TV!
I got my C-310 as a replacement for my broken C-220. I was expecting the old one fixed, or a new 220, so I was very surprised when I opened the box and found a brand new camera that was totally different from the last one. The only let-down was that the new camera could only take xD memory cards, and the old one just SmartMedia, so my 128 Mb SM card was redundant all of a sudden...
Inspecting the fancy new camera, I quickly realised what I had got ... ...wanted in a camera. It shows the picture after you've taken it (the C-220 doesn't, you have to turn it off first), and with the press of a button you can preview all of them. It's got programmes for eg. Sport, Night, Portrait and Landscape pictures, you can plug in a power adapter, and a USB cable (with the 220 you just had to plug in the cable for the camera folder to pop onto your computer screen, with the 310 you have to be in play mode and select ...

Advantages: easy to use Disadvantages: battery power
I got this at Christmas time and it is a great little digital camera, especially as a first one purchased. Expect to pay between £90 and £100 in a shop. This does not necessarily include carrycase etc, there may be an extra fee for this.
The buttons and layout are straightforward, and the guide book with it is very easy to follow if you have any difficulties. There is a good sized display screen on the back and a handy quick view button to see the ... ...is saved if not, the touch of a button deletes so you don't waste your memory!
I like this camera as it has 3x optical zoom( doesn't lose sharpness) as well as digital zoom. 3.2 megapixel means it is of a good standard if you choose to blow up any images, it won't blur as much as other cameras do.
It is compatible with xd picture cards. The card you receive with the camera should store around 25 photos is what i found but some may want to purchase ...

Advantages: good quality pictures, lrge zoom Disadvantages: quite bulky, shutter lag, battery life
I've had this camera quite a while, and I love it. It's absolutely perfect for taking those holiday snaps and similar.
Well probably the most important aspect when buying a camera is the picture quality, this is an area where this camera does not disappoint. With it's 3.2 Megapixels it will produce some very large pictures with much detail and intensity. Even compared to the latest cameras 3.2 is quite a lot of Megapixels.
Another important feature ... ...is very nice as not all cameras have optical zooms, and so you are to get closer without losing quality. The overall zoom is described as a 10x seamless zoom, but unfortunately the problem with all digital zooms is that some picture quality is lost. So I never use the digital zoom, firstly because you have to set it up every time you want to use it, going through all the onscreen menus, and secondly you are able to do better quality digital zooms ...

Advantages: Easy to use, Super Macro mode Disadvantages: Short battery life, slow responce time
The C-310 Zoom is definitely a good camera for beginners. It provides easy access to simple picture taking, as well as having the ability to take short video clips. Furthermore, there are modes for landscape and self - portrait. The optical zoom function is also a plus - though it is only 3.2 megapixels, you have the equivalent of a 9mp camera with 3x digital zoom. The "Super Macro Mode" is probably the best feature of all. I've taken some professional ... ...high detail very close up. The reason it only deserves 3 out of 5 are that it has several major drawbacks, the first of which is the battery life. It will last around 5 - 10 minutes with fresh, new batteries, and then will die. After only 5 minutes, it will begin to act oddly - the LCD will refuse to turn on, the responce is much slower, etc. etc. At 10 minutes, it will abruptly stop working and give a "Battery Empty" message.
Another drawback is ...

Manufacturer's product description
Cut straight to the chase with the CAMEDIA C-310ZOOM. Featuring a classic form, this 3.2 million pixel camera is perfect for newcomers to digital photography and the ideal companion at any party or on holiday. Equipped with a 3x zoom lens, precision functions and helpful scene programs, it makes capturing your view of the world easy. Even if that means showing objects from just 2cm away, macro mode makes this possible. And to top it all, the shooting fun comes with a very reasonable price tag.The C-310ZOOM incorporates a number of features that make picture taking easy and fast. Five special scene programs are on hand, so that you can capture images in a wide variety of locations and conditions. For instance, use the landscape setting for sweeping shots from your hotel window, or the portrait mode for striking impressions of your friends. Sometimes, however, just a single small detail is particularly worth documenting. No problem for the C-310ZOOM. Simply switch to Super Macro mode, which lets you shoot from an incredibly close 2cm. And since this model supports the PictBridge standard, you don't even need a PC to print your favorite shots on a PictBridge-compatible printer, such as the CAMEDIA P-10. This produces laminated prints that really impress with their stunning photo-realism. Alternatively, you may take the xD-Picture Card containing the data to your photo dealer for first-class prints. With its 3x seamless optical zoom, the camera provides close-up, high-resolution images, which capture playful moments in brilliant color and sharp detail. In terms of design, an emphasis has been placed on a purist, classical form. The camera sports a sophisticated metallic lacquer finish. The C-310ZOOM is a high quality digital camera that has a price to fit the budget of a wide range of users.
