...digital camera. This is an Olympus Camedia C-350 Zoom; yes I know that it is not the best camera that you can buy! And yes I know that it has not got the every single feature that is available! Yes I know that other camera’s take better pictures and yes I know that I can go on and on for ages saying what it hasn’t got and what it cannot do, but I’m not going to so let’s go back a bit and say what I did get.
I got
ü 1 compact ... .../>
ü Carry case and strap
ü Camedia CD
ü USB lead
As part of a package I also purchased;
ü 1 64mb card
ü 1 charger
ü 2 rechargeable batteries
The price is irrelevant now, as the cost has come down by a huge amount!!!
It also came with loads of little ‘instruction manuals’ or something not really sure what they are or what purpose they serve.
Buying things like digital cameras can be quite daunting and there is a lot of information out there if you can be bothered to look. I looked for months at Expert reviews and consumer reviews before finally deciding on my camera. Of course finances limited the choice, and although I had read a lot I still had a lack of understanding of what many of the features actually meant. I had the good fortune to use two cameras before I brought and although the use of both of these was extremely limited it did however give me a couple of pointers of what I wanted.
Generally when you buy something you expect it to be the best (well the best that you can afford) and occasionally you buy something that exceeds your expectations well that’s exactly what happened when I brought my digital camera.
I got ü 1 compact digital camera x 3.2m pixels ü 1 16mb card ü Carry case and strap ü Camedia CD ü USB lead
As part of a package I also purchased; ü 1 64mb card ü 1 charger ü 2 rechargeable batteries
The price is irrelevant now, as the cost has come down by a huge amount!!!
It also came with loads of little ‘instruction manuals’ or something not really sure what they are or what purpose they serve.
It was whipped out of the box, the batteries were chucked in (instructions on a separate sheet of paper, very good) and I gave it to one of the kids to sort out what you need to do with it and within a couple of minutes they had worked out almost everything and they quickly showed me and wham bam thank you, we were on our way and this is the first positive that should be taken- it is simple to use. The only thing to remember is to move Nan’s finger out of the viewfinder when she is taking the pictures!
Of course the next thing you want to do is look at the pictures you have just taken and again this is easy to do, using the screen menu and the little wiggly button on the right hand side on the top and this allows to move in closer and further away and to flip through the pictures. Again another positive- the easy to use menu.
Moving onto the next stage you need to be able to download it onto the computer and transfer your images to the computer. The camera menu is simple. You have to plug in your USB lead from camera to computer, the computer will identify your USB lead and this will enable you to download the pictures from the camera to the computer.
The menu screen on the camera comes on when the camera is turned on and you will be given a choice of what you want to do. You just have to choose Camera-PC and this transfers the images to the computer. You will of course need a photo programme and this camera comes with Camedia programme. This is relatively straightforward but I found that this programme is the biggest flaw with the package as it is not easy to identify how to save ‘your albums’ and there are limitations to what can and cannot be done with the editing tools etc. The programme does not provide anything other than basic tools, this is disappointing although to be fair you can buy an upgraded version, but with me, I had already stretched the wallet to buy the camera without having to buy a new photo programme as well.
The camera provides very good picture quality in a reasonably robust case, the picture screen is compact (so is the camera) and in some lighting conditions it can be difficult to see the pictures, but I’m assuming here that it is the same for most cameras.
Overall it is an excellent package for the run of the mill person taking photographs and this can be extended by those that seek greater detailing from their photographs. The overall price for the complete package means that it represents very good value for money with the only major drawback being the limited photographic programme.
Advantages: Lightweight, good image quality, value for money Disadvantages: Smallish XD memory card, and it eats batteries!
I bought this camera about two years ago as I started visiting museums around the country. I wanted a quality camera that had optical zoom, was at least 3 megapixels in quality, and was reasonably priced. Whilst on holiday in Tenerife, I searched high and low for cameras in Los Christianos, but ended up purchasing this from Dabs.com once I got back to the UK, for around £250.
The main specs. of the camera are that it is a 3.2 megapixel camera with ... ...a colour LCD screen so you can see the pictures you've taken (or the image you're about to take), and takes xD memory cards. The supplied 16 mb card wont hold a dozen pictures when the camera image quality is at its highest. Images at that high setting are quality photos that can (almost) be blown up to A4 without any pixelisation, but to take many pictures, you'll need to buy a larger xD memory card. I bought a 512mb card for under £40 on Amazon, ...

Advantages: Good picture quality, sleek look. Disadvantages: Battery lifetime.
...a keen photographer and recommended Olympus as a good make when I was on the lookout for a digital camera. It was priced at around £180 depending on where you bought it, which was about average for a non-professional digital camera at the time. My mum bought it for me in a larger Boots store (on a triple points day, I think).
Inside the box, other than the camera was:
- Camera strap
- 16 mb xD-Picture card
- 2 alkaline batteries
- USB cable
... ...the battery life with an Olympus is terrible. Another cousin had a Sony digital camera and he was taking short videos as well as photos and his batteries lasted all day.
When I connected the camera to the computer (another thing I found very easy) I was very happy with the quality of the photos.
I have mixed feelings about this camera. I like the look and the quality of the pictures, but then what use is that if you couldn't take it on a day trip ...

Advantages: Cheap, 3.2 MP, Optical Zoom Disadvantages: Too many flaps for stuff like cards
I was recently after a new digital camera. As it was my second, I knew you needed a 3Million pixels (at least) effectiveness, and an optical zoom.
The camera itself is really stylish, silver and thin, and it's made of tough plastic(don't drop it though!). However, the battery, memory card and USB connection points are dotted all around the camera, so you might have to get used to that.
When I spotted this camera, Camedia C-350 Zoom, I was extremely ... ...three times digital zoom. It also had 3.2 million pixels. All for less than £130.
Another point though, is the LCD screen, 1.8inch. I know I've only read the specs out yet, but they are great. Naturally, a large screen is great for viewing photos/short movies, but it doesn't half bite away at the battery lifespan.
Battery lifespans aren't good in any new digital camera, as they run off AA, and can probably only live for 25mins, in this camera. ...

...card) but they recommend buying Olympus cards in order to mantain the pamoramic function. Tha camera uses 2 x AA alkaline batteries which do not last very long but a rechargable unit and batteries can be bought to save on cost. The camera will also accept a specialised Lithium battery and can also be run off of the mains using an AC adaptor.
The pixel resolution is 3.2 million pixels, it has a 3x optical zoom and a 3.3x digital zoom. Also, for all ... ...also movie capture on the Olympus C350z. The small movies are stores as QuickTime files and so can be easily played on most PCs and Macs. A 16MB picture card will shoot 48sec of high quality material and 211sec standard quality material (shooting at 15frames/sec.)
All in all a lovely camera ideal for first time users of a digital camera who will be amazed by the clarity of the prints and wish they had purchased an Olympus C350z sooner. ...
