I am a complete amateur photographer who is always seeking the perfect photograph, and after many years of trying different cameras (both 35mm & digital) I think I have found perfection.
This snappy little camera is very easy to use, it has the capability to point and shoot but has the features available if you want to be a little more adventurous.
I must admit I do tend to use the high resolution picture quality and this is probably due to the fact that when I do get that perfect picture to have framed, this gives the best results if you want to chop and enlarge.
I don't very often actually print in bulk the pictures that I take but instead use them as my screen saver, so that I can look at them over and over again. I have just got back from my holiday and decided that I would print off 50 pictures this time to show family and friends. I received nothing but praise re the quality of the photographs and was asked by several people what camera I had used as they were interested in purchasing one.
I appreciate what I have told you so far does not tell you much about the camera but just how much I really love it - so here goes with the not so technical bit:
The camera came with a 32MB card but I purchased an additional 128MB card which holds just over 100 photos on high resolution.
You can shoot short movies (no sound), these take longer to store and will use up a lot more of your memory space - the quality of the movies is not fantastic and is really just for fun.
The camera has the usual self timer function but with the added gadget of a remote control, so that you can get yourself settled in the picture before taking it. The remote control is also useful to avoid camera shake - particularly when taking night shots.
There is a panorama function that is really easy to use, with guides to help you stitch the photos together afterwards (software provided)
The battery life is more than adequate - I only needed to charge it once in my two week holiday - and I spent a lot of time viewing the pictures I had taken. The battery charges quickly, and as long as you don't leave it out for too long all of your settings are stored (date etc)
There is a nice playback feature which will display the pictures as a slideshow on the LCD, or you can even hook the camera up to your TV (cables provided)
The flash has all the usual modes (Auto/fill in/red eye/slow synchronization/off) but you can also manually alter the intensity.
All the other usual features are there:
Sequential shooting Two in one pictures resizing pictures creating black & white or sepia pictures Macro
The only disadvantages in my opinion are:
1. When you take a picture it displays on the LCD screen for about 3 seconds, if you then want to view it again you need to close the front cover.
2. The camera didn't come with a very extensive manual - all the instructions were contained on a disc and was pretty chunky to print out - not ideal when you are just starting out and need to keep referring to it.
3. If your battery does run out on you, you can not put normal batteries in - unless you buy a spare battery you'll have to wait for a recharge.
Look no further - this is definitely the camera for you!!!!

Advantages: Good quality photos and very easy to use for beginners Disadvantages: Few irritating factors like closing the lens to view what you have taken
Advantages: Long life battery; Great quality pictures; Many manual over-rides Disadvantages: Lens cover is weak; Printed instruction manual is brief compared to features.
