I had a big problem with an Olympus C70 Zoom - the camera lost 400+ of my holiday photos - it did not record onto the card even though the camera kept counting like it did. The problem was Olympus... more

Is your wife a goer? Eh? Much as I’d like to give you this classic Monty Python scene in its entirety I’m not going to. For that you’ll need to visit http://www.intriguing.com/mp/scripts/livebowl.txt and scroll about halfway down. What I can give you though is this truly appropriate excerpt: Man: Whoa! Is your...is your Glendale wife interested in...photography? Eh? Eh? Eh? Man with hat: Photography? Man: "Photographs, eh?" he asked him knowingly! Man with hat: Photography? Man: Snap, snap, grin, grin, wink, wink, nudge, nudge, say no more! Man with hat: Sort of...holiday ... more

Advantages Advantages size, weight, performance, picture quality

Disadvantages Disadvantages Im still trying to think of one. Maybe the price?

I like to think of myself as a keen amateur photographer. Im not the sort to spend thousands of pounds on lenses, SLR's or filters but I do enjoy capturing a beautiful photograph with an ideal camera to suit my needs and my pocket. After studying phontography during my 'A' Levels 7 years ago, I was able to collect an active knowledge of the art and skill behind the lense and an ability to appreciate what is hot and what is not when it comes to cameras. Therefore during my pursuit to find that ideal camera all avenues were pursued. The debate over digital and Film based cameras will continue ... more

Advantages Advantages Excellent optical zoom with really clear pictures.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Viewfinder is a bit fuzzy, not always that easy to see what you are taking.

This is a small and very easy to use camera with a magnficent zoom feature. I was able to take pictures of insects on holiday this year which were still clear when enlarged up to 8x10. There aren't as many 'fun' features as on some other cameras but the quality is superb . The editing software is reasonable . It is easy to download pictures using the cable supplied. Although it is possible to take pictures in quite dark conditions they are rather fuzzy and you really need a tripod or stand. It is possible to use a range of manual settings rather than always using the automatic function. The ... more

Advantages Advantages Many controllable options, excellent picture quality

Disadvantages Disadvantages Battery life could be longer

For a camera of its class I would recommend the Olympus Camedia C 700 above any other for the amateur or the more experienced photographer. While it is easy to use and just as good for one who knows nothing about cameras, it also provides many options that a more advanced photographer would find useful. One of my favorite features is the option of adjusting the f-stop, shutter speed and film speed as desired. One can set it on automatic, or have the option of changing just the shutter speed or both f-stop and shutter speed as desired. The film speed is adjusted independently of the f-stop and ... more

Advantages Advantages Great zoom, pretty much point and shoot and great for close up pictures

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None so far!

Olympus CAMEDIA C 700 Ultra Zoom is a little out-dated but still well worth buying as it's fairly cheap on ebay, i bought my camera, 2x128mb cards, 1x32mb card and a carry case for £100.00 and it is one of the best purchases i have made in ages. I used it on my hols this year and took some fantastic photos without even reading the manual so even an idiot like me can be a budding David Bailey! My friend has a more expensive camera than mine with more mega pixels and the Olympus CAMEDIA C 700 Ultra Zoom is just as good so don't be put off, if you come across one anywhere snap it up as you won't ... more
