Advantages: Small, 7 Meg, great results, unbelievable flexability Disadvantages: Optics aren't the best ever.

I had previously been using pro spec 35mm kit, and found the transition to this little box remarkably easy. It has the usual point and shoot program modes, but also, shutter and apperture priority, and fully manual mode, which is a major bonus, as is the ability to shoot in RAW.

It has a decent zoom range, although the optics aren't brilliant they are are still pretty good for such a tiny little lense. There is the option to set the ISO speed, although this could do with a wider range. The menu structure is fairly friendly, although it could be better, and I sometimes find myself trying 2 or 3 times to do something, because I either forget where in the menu to go, or push the wrong thing.
There are far more features on here than there should be at the price (I don't remember what I paid, but it was worth every penny), and plenty to keep the average fiddler happy. You can set the white balance to a number of presets or to a custom setting. The camera is set to use auto by default, but this really needs to be changed if you want to get the best from it.
Battery life is good, and charging time is short. Mine will go from flat to full in less than an hour and a half.
I really can't fault this camera. It has all the functionality of a DSLR, but fits quite nicely in your pocket.
The supplied software is pretty good too, and the RAW conversion tool does an adequate job.
If you want to see what it can do, go to www.20cities.com and check out some of the pictures. They were all taken on this little camera.
The camera comes with a 32Mb XD memory card which is completely inadequate, but I guess I should be grateful it comes with one at all.
It has a movie mode, which produces ok little movies, but unfortunately the zoom doesn't work while recording. The microphnoe is a little weak as well. The whole movie mode kind of feels like it was added on as an after thought.
Would I recommend it. Without a doubt. If you're a first time digital user, put it in Program mode, and read the manual, and some great pictures will follow. If you're an advanced user, read the manual, use it how you feel, and some great pictures will follow.
Advantages: Ease of use and features Disadvantages: Little on the bulky side
...have had a number of Olympus cameras, starting with the OM2. My previous digital camera was also an olympus but died on me unexpectantly. This experience was making me a bit wary about another Olympus. In the end the superior optics and the functions available in this camera won me over. The camera is a little on the bulky side making it difficult to carry in the pocket. I purchased a bad that fits on the belt which works well. The controls in on ... ...(USB) and TV. Pictures are stored according to date and can be browesed doth on the camera and software using a calender, which I find very useful.
In summary the Olympus is an excellent camera, easy to use and very good quality, if a little on the bulky side ...

Advantages: none that i can now see after buying and using one Disadvantages: camera does not focus - looses photos and no Olympus support offered
I bought this camera thinking Olympus was good quality. We traveled to Egypt and the camera lost 400+ photos. On my return it took 3 months to get it serviced and no information, no reason, no apology, no refund offer or support of any kind - they did not even replace the camera - it can back in same condition with acoment - it won't happen again. We have no trust in the camera now. It also does not focus well - we take 3 shots and choose the best ...

Advantages: Easy to use, compact. Disadvantages: No underwater casing available
Being an avid photographer it took me a long time to plunge from 35mm to digital, and longer again to go from SLR to compact... however I struck gold when I made this purchase.
My poor digital slr has taken a back seat to this convenient, compact and easy to use olympus. Its easy to use as a point and shoot but also great if you like to play with your images and use manual settings
The image quality, even at full zoom, is excellent, infact I have ...

Advantages: Compact and robust construction; easy to use Disadvantages: flash could reach farther; only very basic info in printed manual
My previous Olympus digital was the 3020, which was great but bulky (and "only" 3MP). This gives higher resolution and is easy to use, but the flash has nothing like the reach of the previous one. Also, the main manual is only on CD, so you have the choice of printing it (a huge task!), printing the bits you need, or sitting at the computer trying to figure things out. The basic printed manual is very, very basic.
Having said that, I wouldn't swap ...
