I have had this camera for about a year now, and it is incredibly reliable. i would just like to start this review by saying that i have not had a single problem with this camera to this date.
the camera has full manual mode, with aperture priority and shutter priority also. it also has many scene modes, but i tend to stick with aperture priority. the user interface is extremely easy to use, and i dont think i have had to look at the manual at any point, it's quite straightforward. the camera has three focus points, which is not as many as a lot of cameras, but i feel the focus is reliable and doesnt seem any less good than other cameras i've seen with more focus points. the metering is generally very good, with images looking very sharp and rich. the 8 megapixel sensor is also a bonus. one of the disadvantages with this camera is that it can only take 4 pictures in a row on the highest quality mode, which can be a let down when shooting wildlife or sport, but i shoot both of those and the problems with that tend to be minimal. the iso goes all the way up to 1600, but i wouldnt recommend using any more than 400, as after that the noise gets excessive, and it isnt really worth trying to get a good photo unless you have exeptional photoshop skills.
i was recently given a load of OM lenses to use with this camera, and i purchased the adapter from ebay for around £25. these lenses are fantastic, the images look superb when taken with most of these lenses, so if you have access to OM lenses, and have this camera, i would advise getting an OM adapter. the disadvantage is it is manual focus, but i find that adds extra enjoyment to taking the photos anyway.
another pro point with this camera, is that the sensor timeses your lenses focal lens by 2, which means my 75-300mm lens becomes a 150-600mm (equivalent of 35mm camera) lens, ideal for wildlife photography which is one of my main uses for my camera.
the lenses that come with the camera are very good, offering a range of equivalent 28mm-300mm, which is good for most purposes.
unfortunately, i have not used any of the rival cameras for a great deal of time so i cant really compare, but i wouldnt swap this camera for any rival camera at this time.
it is also great value for money, the cheapest i've seen on the market, and yet it seems to be better than many more expensive cameras.

...with a 'point and shoot'. Olympus manufactures a good range of lenses and I chose the 14-45mm zoom, which is a good all-rounder. It's a bit slow at f3.5-f5.6, but the cost is on a par with similar offerings in the market place. There is also a wider 11-22mm zoom, 8mm fisheye and 50mm macro lens available. Olympus has also chosen to use its own flash-connection system rather than the industry standard five-pin Nikonos style, so my strobes wouldn't ... ...Back at home, I found that the camera requires you to load the supplied software onto your computer in order to download the images. Not wishing to have yet another camera's software cluttering up my hard drive, I chose to use a card reader and imported them without any problems. The image quality is good - not outstanding, but on a par with my previously owned Nikon D100. Considering the price tag, you get an excellent image for your money. Who ...

The picture quaity of this camera is amazing. The colour reroduction is vibrant even under difficult lighting As for ease of use, the title says it all. I had always wanted to get in to more serious amatuer photography and stumped up the courage with the E-300. This camera is as basic or functional as you wish to make it. Use one of the many presets and you can simply point and click or use the manual settings for more advanced work.
The camera ... ...with and comes with a full manual on the supplied cd for when you become more adventureous, which you will.
I have spent many a happy hour with this camera and have now got the photography bug in a big way. I've even suprised myself with the quality of the pictures. Therefore, I am recommending this camera and giving it top ratings.
With this camera, you really get what you are paying for and then some. ...

Wow, what can i possible say, THIS CAMERA IS AWESOME!
My dad purchased this item a while ago now and is still discovering new useul features. With its 8.0 million pixels you will be very impressed with the clarity and quality of the pictures. My dad is a very keen photographer but he doesn't get on wll with most new technologies but with the User-friendly menu plus full manual operation he finds it a breeze!
The battery lasts quite a long while ... ...depending on usage this can vary- as i say my dad uses it most days. Instead of using the cable which is rather slow my dad has opted to use a memory card reader ustilising the CompactFlash card supplied.
The case supplied with it is very strong and also waterproof- however my dad doesn;t want to try that feature!
All in all this is a top- notch camera but then again it is a top- notch price!

My husband bought me this camera for my birthday, and I just can't believe how good it is. This is my first digital SLR and I was a bit nervous that I wouldn't be able to cope with the complexity of an SLR. But it is absolutely brilliant. If you want to use it as a point and shoot camera, you can. If you want to us it as a semi-automatic SLR you can. If you want to use it as a totally manual SLR where you select all the features, white balance, focal ... ...make me nervous - you can. It has a pop up flash for when things are a bit dim. Or you can override the flash and select a more appropriate ISO setting. If you want to take a picture in black and white, or sepia tone, it's a simple touch of the odd button. There are so many features that I haven't uncovered them all yet.

This is a conversion lens for the OlympusE-10 and E-20.There are not many lens accessories for the E-10 just a couple of mid range conversion lenses and one giant 300mm lens, for bird watchers. I recently bid for a TCON 14B on auction site and am very pleased with it considering I got it for less than half price(£75), I am not sure if I would have been so impressed if I had paid the full £220 for it. Its a good lens but when you consider it only adds 1.5 to the lens power £220 is a lot to pay. Having said that the extra zoom does make a difference, giving 6x as opposed to 4x, which is a useful addition.
There are a couple of drawbacks with this lens which are not advertised in the publicity for this it, which is understandable I suppose, but it is a bit of a surprise if you are not fully informed before you buy the lens. The lens ...

I was slow to come to the digital revolution. Vehemently declared I would never have one, didn't see the need when I had a perfectly good manual Olympus.
What a waste of words that was as I personally have bought one this year and my companion has bought one which I reviewed earlier this year - I LOVE THEM.
I was clear in my brief to the camera shop salesman: I don't need a big expensive do-it-all camera as I have a perfectly good manual camera but I do need something I can take photos to complement my travel writing on-line.
He confidently moved to the locked cabinet and recommended the Olympus IR-300 because it was so efficient with its many options but the one which I needed most was the E-MAILVGA.
Now, at this point I told him I was a techno klux. He said this little camera was just right for me and with a bit of help ...
