The Olympus XD picture card is good in many ways, yet it is in the end just another memory card.

It has high read and write speeds, and supports the panoramic function in Olympus cameras (not that I regularly use that function)!

The capacity of the card could cause problems when used in a camera that takes high resolution photos, although I have never really found this too much of an issue. If I was going on holiday for any great period of time I would buy a memory card of a higher capacity (XD cards are made in up to 1GB). Another downside is that as XD cards are newer than many other card types, they are quite expensive - although their price is dropping quite quickly, and good deals can be found on the internet. Another problem with them being relatively new is that they are not supported by that many card readers, although this looks soon to be rectified as most newer card readers support the cards.

I have never had any problems with the consistency of the card however; and it has also survived several drops on the floor, etc. which is quite surprising considering how delicate it is. The card is good, but not anything special - it serves its purpose as a memory card for a digital camera well, but I can't help feeling that another barnd of card would at times be less hassle to use due to the poor support from older card readers.
