A poor offering from Olympus

Advantages: Takes AAA batteries and....er.....er...hmmmm.... takes AAA batteries
Disadvantages: Awful screen, not user friendly, feels cheap and nasty, made out of inferior materials etc. etc.

desirable in the flesh. The camera feels quite cheap and nasty and is clearly made out of inferior materials. This is not that surprising given the features and the low cost. Olympus had to cut corners somewhere and it appears as though it is all in the camera outer casing. The buttons follow the overall theme and also look cheap and nasty. When you press the buttons there is no convincing ?click? like you get with other cameras, which also suggests poor quality. The buttons are quite small and not suitable for anyone with large or fat fingers. Like most digital cameras nowadays there are a variety of shooting modes including SCN, DIS mode, P and iAuto. There is also the ability to change the settings depending upon the weather where you can choose between sunny, cloudy and fluorescent conditions. In addition to this you can choose between ...

Review of Olympus FE-250

My Olympus E20P

Advantages: High quality pictures
Disadvantages: slow turn on time and slow processing time

I have now owned my Olympus E20P for almost 3 years and have used it in extremely harsh conditions including several desert expeditions and diving trips. It has not let me down once and produces very high quality images. I rarely use the highest quality setting of "Tiff" as I can see little difference in the image quality from using the "SHQ" setting. I have used both a 1Gb microdrive and a 512 Kb card, I now stick to the 512 card as it used less power and is more robust. I also have the wide angle and telephoto screw on lens which, despite my initial doubts about screw ons, produce excellent images. You should always take spare batteries - I use 2300 mAh Ni-MH batteries from Jessops as they last longer and are easy to charge. My only complaints with the camera are that it takes a long time to switch on - about 10 seconds ...
