It's difficult to achieve perfection in any product, but the Olympus SP-610UZ nearly hits the high mark needed to push it into this category. While many cameras simply cater to specific groups, the SP-610 is a good example of a model which is capable of encompassing both casual and professional photo taking with all of its features.

The camera's design could ideally be better, as the total weight is just a bit to heavy for easy portaging, yet the lens quality adds an exceptional inclusion of value which well outwieghs this negative. The capping does protect against unwanted scrapings, but it would appear as though a thicker wrist strap might have helped alleviate the burden that the thin inclusion places on a moving photographer. Otherwise it is a stunning piece of technology by all considerations.

For outdoors professional photos, I found the SP-610 to be an excellent tool. The settings and pixelation levels allow for a firm degree of detail to be captured, and the shutter speed means taking picture of moving objects or people will not end up with excessive burr. Another feature allows the photographer to arrange photos in a flip book form, which is handy for stop-motion videos and photo collages.

As far as software connectivity goes, the camera exceeds modest expectations, Uploads are smooth enough, and the included photo album software allows for semi-professional edits to create further designs and collections.

The dullest note to the Olympus model is indoor photography, which needs a great deal of frustrating adjustment in order to get it right. With a few indoor lighting features this is slightly offset, but still a noticeable irritant.

All things told the SP-610UZ is an ideal model for both casual and professional photography, and is strongly recommended.
