Advantages: excellent lens, good range of features, large (2.5") LCD screen Disadvantages: No viewfinder, small buttons, not great for contrajour shots
I've always been an Olympus camera fan, and have bought quite a few of them over the years - not because they're unreliable and need constant replacing, but because technology moves on and I don't like to get left behind! My last Olympus digital camera was only 2 megapixels (virtually top of the range when I bought it), so was due a well-deserved retirement. I settled on the Olympus mju digital 600 to replace it, and overall I've been fairly happy ... ...to upgrade from an earlier Olympus - the mju 600 takes an XD card, so you may not be able to use your old memory cards. And if you're buying a new card, make sure you buy genuine Olympus cards if you intend to use the camera's "panorama" function (it doesn't work with other cards).
What about the specification? Well, the mju 600 offers :-
6.0 megapixels ;
a 2.5" (or 6.4cm) full colour LCD screen - that's big for a very compact camera which only ...

The olympus DIGITAL 600, which, as you might gather from the latter part of the name, offers you a healthy six megapixels of image snapping capability.
For those of you fed up with silver digital cameras, you may be pleased to know that the mju DIGITAL 600 comes in (navy) blue and (ruby) red as well as (Arctic) silver. However, you are probably going to want to chose your camera on the basis of more than just its colour...
The first thing of note ... ...its massive LCD screen. The specifications rate it at measuring 6.4cm across the diagonal, though in fact the viewing area is closer to 6cm. This is still a whole lot more than we are used to in a digital camera, and it makes framing shots a dream.
There are two elements of bad news though: the LCD takes up almost all of the space on the back of the camera, leaving no room for an optical viewfinder, and the control buttons have a relatively small ...

...am a firm believer that Olympus are probably still the best photographic device manufacturers around. They provide good, reliable products, at competitive prices and offer excellent support and other services. So Olympus cameras were my first port of call.

Advantages: easy to use, weatherproof, good-looking. Disadvantages: small buttons, no case.
I bought an Olympus Mju 600 as a wedding gift for my husband, whose last camera got squished by a car, and i knew i needed to get something good to replace what he'd lost. Bearing in mind i'm not very technical, i thought i'd better do a bit of research, and everywhere i went they advised me that this one was one of the better cameras to go for. Easy-to-use, 6 million pixels and a great price - excellent value for money.
It's a very nice-looking ... ...what else could i want) and the on/off noise is satisfyingly clicky like an old fashioned film camera - giving it a little more soul than most of these digital things. The big screen at the back makes framing and setting up shots really easy, and the weatherproof shell came in very useful for our October honeymoon in the Lake District!
It's got loads of different settings, for portraits, landscapes, night shots etc, but my favourite is the "reducing ...
