I have recently switched from an earlier Olympus 3MP camera to this MJU 700, and have largely felt nothing but joy when using this camera. The body of this camera has been designed extremely well, and is sleek and stylish, not to mention being available is some stunning colours, but also is incredibly comfortable to handle. A large (2.5") LCD viewfinder means no more squinting at the image you are trying to capture, but is large, sharp and clear. The one disadvantage that comes with this large screen is that there is no manual viewfinder, so in extremely bright sunshine it is nearly impossible to view the image on the LCD screen, so it's a case of 'point, guess and shoot, and hope for the best'! The camera itself features approx 23 scene settings, including the usual potrait/self potrait/landscape/landscape and potrait/night etc etc. But the addition of new settings such as 'sunset', 'museum', 'available light', 'sport' and many others is wonderful, and it is fascinating to shoot the same view on different settings - each one is truly different, and there is something for every occasion. The camera menu is easy to access, although learning where each different setting is can take a while - but it is just a matter of using the camera on a regular basis and getting to know it by heart. As mentioned, the exposure can be a let down. Several times I have taken pictures of a colourful scene, only to be disappointed on getting home and downloading the pictures. However, it is possible to manually set the exposure, which I find compensates for this small problem. Plus, there is a movie option, and an inbuilt microphone captures sound from a wide range. Do not expect dvd video quality, but in general I have been very impressed with this function. Overall, I would recommend this camera to anyone who enjoys photography and is willing to spend time improving their art. The ease of use makes it perfect for beginners and those who do just want a 'point and shoot' camera, however to make the most of this lovely camera time should be spent experimenting with all the many features and options - this alone will open up the world of photography to a novice. There is enough here to keep a more experienced photographer happy, and many happy hours will be spent with this beautiful camera.

Advantages: Teeny camera but big on function, simplicity itself, perfect for the technophobe, and idiot proof! Disadvantages: So tiny I keep losing it!
Advantages: large viewfinder, decent battery life, user-friendly, many different modes Disadvantages: no case provided, no memory card provided, screen prone to finger-prints
Advantages: Very steady capture capability, very slim and chic, very relliable. Disadvantages: The lens faults with frequent usage, the video quality could be better.
