This camera is a fantastic item for those of you who wnat a really hardwearing durable camera that you are not constantly worrying about - this one lies in puddles of beer at rugby parties and gets thrown about at the beach. It has even been put in a pint!! The pictures we have taken when we read the instructions and worked out the settings have been great. The flash is a little bright and gives a little red eye, but the sw that comes with it removes that at a click. the battery is a rechargeable "cameras own" but the lifetime seems great so far and you do get a warning in the corner keeping you up to date. There was no card in the box but there is a small memory in the cmaera itself - you can always get a deal or find a card on the web. I have an SL-r camera and have owned a small Canon in the past but for a handbag size camera or a great holiday one - this is ideal - both on the picture quality, ease of use and the battery life. Also no need to purchase those underwater disposables - this will take in a pool for example. It has 21 different settings including snap and select, behind glass, snow scenes, underwater etc etc
Advantages: Sturdy, durable, easy to use, excellent display Disadvantages: Slow write time to card, poor video sound, overpowering flash
Bought this as a secondary camera last week (didn't want to lug around my SLR for nights out!). Have played with it over the xmas party season and have found it to be an all round easy to use camera. It's well built and has a host of features which is great but it does have some flaws. Mainly, the write time to the memory card is quite slow (up to 4 seconds depending on conditions), the flash is overpowering at anything under 1.5 metres which makes ... ...video mode is quite poor, dipping up and down on volume levels. Good points are the way the camera handles, it's ease of use, and the durability and ruggedness of it.
Generally a good camera, particularly for capturing those drunken nights. Don't have to worry about beer spillages etc. ...

The Olympus µ[mju:] 790 SW goes anywhere you do. Shockproof, waterproof and freezeproof, you can take it mountain biking, swimming or skiing. It handles whatever life throws at it - so there's never a need to worry. Despite its tough attributes, the 7.1 Megapixel µ[mju:] 790 SW looks great and doesn't compromise a bit on photographic features.
