On-Line Karaoke

On-line,or streaming karaoke is a relatively new product.It gives you the chance to sing along to your favourite tracks with words on screen, just like a professional karaoke machine.There are two main English sites that offer this service, and are:

Of the two sites, singtotheworld is the more professionally presented, and offers slightly more choice of songs.Easykaraoke's site looks somewhat childish in its presention, but, at the moment, there is one big difference.....Easykaraoke is free! The way that the two sites operate is different, in that Singtotheworld is a subscription site, costing between £3.99 and £5.99 per month depending on the subscription that you choose, and Easykaraoke operates on the user buying points to purchase karaoke "Party Time". 5 points gives you 30 mins of singing time,and each session must be bought in 30 minute blocks.At the moment,however,complimentary points are being awarded for giving feedback of the site via e-mail. I currently have 195 free points, giving me loads of singing time.This is truly an excellent offer, with no strings attached.

When you subscribe to Singtotheworld you may log-on and sing for as long as you like.Fantastic!

Each site has an incredible range of titles available from favourites to chart,Easy with over 2000, and Sing with over 2500.You must be able to find something you like in that lot! You can find a song by either artist or title, quickly and simply.

The quality of the arrangements is fantastic, particularly with Sing,being really professional and not at all like those electronic-only jobs that you get with down-loadable players and KAR files.

Sing's site offers most choice, and gives the user the choice of selecting your modem speed and graphics quality, dependant on the speed of your computer. Easy's site does this automatically when you log on.

As to graphics quality,or words, again Sing offers the best on-screen availability.The colour of the words changes, on both sites, as the song progresses, so the user knows where thay are with the lyrics.Very easy to use, and to keep up with the song.When a duet is played different colours are employed for the male and female singers.

Both sites offer the ability to burn your favourite tracks onto custom CDG discs for your home CDG player, and this costs £2.00 per track with Singtotheworld, the prices not yet confirmed with Easykaraoke.

Both sites let you choose and store your favourite tracks for future sing-alongs,Easy storing your most recently played songs automatically, and Sing letting you choose them.

Singtotheworld also sell karaoke items such as players,compilation discs, and other items of interest to singers.

The only practical downside is that the user cannot alter the transposition, or pitch of the song, and so must sing it in the key in which it was written.Some will be too high, and some too low, just choose your songs carefully.
