Being a huge fan of Top Gear and the fact that Richard Hammond almost died filmimg for the show this was an autobiography that i hads to read to see how Richard really felt and how he took steps to recovery, especially as without him Top Gear would not have been the same.

On the Edge was a great autobiography it followed the life of Richard Hammond also nicknamed the Hamster, who is one of the nations favourite tv presenters and his star quality has grown significantly over the years so his autobiography was a great success.

The book goes through Richard's childhood and his addiction for speed, where he then grew up into radio and then progressed to television and then moved to Top Gear and the accident that he had in September 2006 where he suffered a serious brain injury after a high-speed car crash he was filminng the show. The nation was gripped and the details of his accident and his recovery were in the public eye for months. It also covers his recovery, The final chapter encounters his return to the screens of the nation on top gear.

This book covers covers how the whole family deals with Richards accident and it is great to see all the support they had from the public and that Richard through such a life threatening accident actually two years on appears like it never really happened it is great to see there is light at the end of the tunnel.

This is one of the better autobiographies that i have read over the years, i read David Beckhams and i was not overally impressed but Richards was full of content and was a book that i had trouble putting down, it was a great holiday read and anyone who is a top gear fan would love this book.
