Once Upon a Time - ABC

I reluctantly agreed to start watching the show Once Upon A Time when my friend was begging me to watch it with her, but much to my surprise, it wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting. I'm not saying that it's amazing and that you should go watch it right this second, but it's an okay show. If you're bored and there's nothing else on, it's worth switching the channel to check it out.

The show has a cool setting, it's based on all of the old school fairytale characters that we all grew up reading stories about(you know, Snow White, Little Red Riding Hood, etc.). The main reason I like it is because they've put such an awesome modern day twist on the classic stories and applied it to real life situations. It's sort of like taking something make-believe and morphing it into something that could actually happen.

Another reason I've watched all of the episodes of Once Upon A Time is because they don't actually introduce you to all of the characters right away. At least, not to their true “fairytale” selves. I've had a good time watching the show and trying to predict which real-life characters are which fairytale people. Sounds easy but it's actually proven to be pretty difficult, so the makers of the show have done a good job making sure that you can't predict each and every turn.

I should mention that Once Upon A Time does tend to jump around in the storyline a bit, so each episode doesn't always pick up where the previous one left off. It doesn't make the show hard to follow but you do need to pay attention if you want to know whats going on.

I'm rating this show 4 out of 5 because I love the storyline, and the setting, but I think the acting and other elements could use some more flair. It is a new show, only in it's first season, so maybe it will get even better with time. Definitely worth watching, though. Make sure you tune into ABC on Sunday nights if you want to have a look at Once Upon A Time. See if you can figure out who all of the characters are!
