In addition, OneTel offers you a Home and Away Card. This card allows you to make calls from any UK phone, as well as from 40 countries around the world. I make a lot of long distance, international phone calls. I mean a lot. I call the states several times a week. I also don't talk for just a short time, I talk like it is a free local call. Lots of catching up to do with family and friends you know. I even still call my favourite local shops in the states to order gifts, flowers, and restaurant gift vouchers. I needed a good long distance phone carrier. I've experimented with a couple, but none proved to be that cheap. Until I found OneTel!

I never have problems accessing and rarely have problems with OneTel having busy circuits. I can talk as long as I want to my family in the states, for nearly as cheap as I can to people in this country. Sometimes cheaper! TRUE!! A call to the USA, anywhere in the USA is only 3P per minute. I can speak to my loved ones for £1.80 per hour. Nonsensical, isn't it? Fanbloodytastic is what it is! A miracle! Calls without guilt!
Here are some examples of OneTel's prices compared with BT's: Spain - 4p v 36p Puerto Rico - 9P v 78p Austria - 8p v 39p Netherlands - 2p v 28p Italy - 4p v 36p Canada - 4p v 24p Australia - 4p v 49p Ireland - 4p v 23p France - 4p v 28p Hong Kong - 7p v 49p India - 32p v £1.20 The list goes on and on.

The calls are billed to your normal OneTel bill. You can have as many cards as you like, so if you have kids who are away at school, they can keep in close touch. There are instructions that come with your card, telling you access numbers, pin numbers and dialling instructions. There are bands of pricing when calling from abroad with these cards. Check with OneTel to find out what those charges will be from the particular country you are phoning from.
You can also use OneTel to place your local or national calls. Local peak time calls are 2.5p compared to BT's 3.95p. Off peak is 1p compared to BT's 2.5p. OneTel's national rates are just 2.5p anytime. Weekend rates are 1p for local calls, which is the same as BT. BT is actually cheaper on national weekend calls. BT is 2p compared to OneTel's 2.5p per minute.
To ring a mobile with OneTel, the rates are peak times: 20p, offpeak times: 15p and weekend: 8 p. per minute. You can also register your mobile number and compare rates with other mobile service providers. Again, check with them on this, as I do not use this service.
OneTel also offers something called a PhonePal. This is a device that plugs into your wall socket, which automatically enters you access code before you dial any number. This means that every call that you make goes through OneTel. We do not have this feature either, but is available to those who want it.
They also offer an Internet Service Prvovider. This is 1p per minute with no minimum or extra charges. Again, I do not use this, as I am happy with my ISP, but it is a very good deal and according to friends who use it, they are very pleased with the service.
Billing is easy! We use their email billing. Just go to www.onetel.co.uk and go to account billing. They notify me when it is billing times and I can go to their website and check my bill. All calls are itemised and I can not only check my current bill, but also bills from three months prior and any unbilled calls. All you have to do is provide your bank details and they debit your account. Very simple.
You can sign up with OneTel directly on their website www.onetel.co.uk. When you register you will get a £2 credit towards your first bill. Not a bad introductory offer.
As you can see, I can't praise OneTel enough. I never get nervous on the 21st of each month, because I know my international phone bill is going to be very reasonable. I get more nervous when that quarterly BT bill comes. Ahhhhhh maybe one day, this country will get free local calls like the states. I can dream can't I? Until then, I salute you OneTel!
Advantages: Very Cheap calls if you choose the right package. Disadvantages: None that I have come across.
Hi....I was looking avidly for a landline service that would help me out as I needed to make calls to the USA. I needed something that wouldnt be expensive and that I didnt need to use any coded numbers either. So ease of use was a factor for me. I had checked out several of them and found that One.Tel offered the best value. The site was easy to navigate and it gave you quite a lot of options to choose from. Lots of combo packages to cover your ... ...that, it even gave you a Q and A sequence to help you find the right package for 'you'. This I found to be most helpful because when you first check a site out there is so much information to take in you dont always make the right choices. For me it was simple, I wanted cheap International calls and I had found what I was looking for. Up until now I had been using either calling cards or my mobile phone which strangley enough gave me ease of use, ...

Advantages: Cheaper international calls, fixed rate 1p per min internet access Disadvantages: None
OneTel is a great company that gives you very good rates on national and international calls made from the UK and also the option of an Internet connection that costs no more then one penny per minute at ALL times. This is very good value for those that want to surf at odd times during the day but don’t want to have to pay through the nose for an unlimited use package with another ISP.
If you sign up for the cheap national/international calls ... ...as you would from home. OneTel also promise to make the service available to you within 24 hours of registering. You can also register over the telephone if you prefer by leaving your details at the site which will prompt a customer service rep to call you back to set up your account, but you’ll miss out on the £2 calling credit if you register this way. Your welcome pack is then forwarded to you by post.
To take advantage of the reduced cost ...

...problems. I signed up with Onetel for 512kb/s at £23.99 a month. It seemed a good deal at the time.
Tiscali told me they would cut off their service on August 16th so I signed up a few days before to Onetel. A few days later Onetel called me to say there was another service on the line and to wait intill the line was clear.
On August 20th I called them back because I called BT 150 and they confirmed the line was clear. A few weeks passed and I ... ...call they confirmed my postcode. Onetel had the same postcode. I called Onetel back and they said they would resend the order.
10-14 days later and not a sound from them. So yet again I called them up and surprise surprise it was... a postcode problem. They asked me another time to confirm the postcode and it was correct. They then asked my other details and they were also correct so they resent the order for the second time.
A few weeks past and ...

...been a customer of the OneTel discounted phone service for over a year in Ruislip, before moving down to Sussex two months ago. I'd always found their voice service so much cheaper, and liked the idea of "soft" copies of my monthly bills.
After moving down to West Sussex, I enquired if I could continue with the service, which was accessed through a "smartbox", which meant not having to dial a four-digit access code as used to be the case. The customer ... ...that I temporarily lost my OneTel service. After I phoned up the Customer Services Dept., I was told that if I paid some money before my direct debit was due in five days, (I paid in full), then I would be offered the new ISP service for just £12.99 per month, with no further charges (dials an 0808 number), so no more massive phone bills!
Well, although the associate said (at 3:30PM yesterday afternoon) that it would probably be available after ...

...offers has improved. Onetel now offer a whole range of services for keeping in touch, including mobiles, ISP service and calling cards for when your away from home. I'll take each one on it's own merits.
The phone service has been excellent for me, and in terms of service Onetel has lived up to all it's promises. You still pay your line rental to BT and then have a variety of methods for routing your phone calls through them, pretty much as all ... ...You do pay monthly with Onetel though, as opposed to quarterly.
You can still use BT services such as 1471, caller display, call back etc, but you probably won't want to use BT's directory enquireies, because Onetel offer one that's free - and it works, unlike some others I could mention who just give you the number for Pizza Hut!!
The ISP service I've been a little dissappointed with recently. They've changed their connection number (and presumably ...
