Save for a rainy night

Advantages Good characters and base plot
Disadvantages The end feels a bit sudden and rushed
I started reading Richard Laymon books pretty much by accident - I'd read all the Stephen King books and needed something else to get my teeth into and have been working my way through his books ever since.
I picked up One Rainy Night a couple of days ago and just finished reading it.
It starts off as promising as any Richard Laymon book with his charactarisation which really makes you feel like you're getting to know the characters as people and then launches into the story line with blood and guts spilling at full speed.
By the end of the book though you feel almost like he's got bored writing the story and ties it off leaving a several loose ends with you wondering what will happen to various characters after the events of the bloody night (don't want to give too much away in case you decide to read this).
The story line is undoubtedly original and keeps you needing to carry on reading to find out how the story unfolds but hasn't got the edge that other books by Laymon have.
Well worth a read but not one of his best.
