...Having already read the odd Andy McNab book here and there I gave in to the urge to buy Remote Control when I saw it in WHSmiths in a train station. Precisely 3 days later I'd finished reading it, and it's not a short book really. Whilst it's true that this book is a work of fiction, it's graphic detail in each and every scene just forces you to believe in what's going on, and I'm still not convinced that's it's all just a story... If you haven't read this book then read it before you even think about speaking to me *g*....

Advantages: All action account with description for military terms Disadvantages: Questions over the accuracy of the account
...The first of the biographies to be written after the Gulf War it gives a first hand account of what happened in the war that most of us assumed was an easily won war. Unlike other biographies that have come from this expedition this one gives an insite into what happened to all the members of the patrol. The subsequent versions of events given in other members biographies has led some to question the truthfulness of Andy McNab's account. Whatever you think of it this is a well written account of how even the most highly trained soldiers can make mistakes. Also without the correct equipment it doesn't matter how well you train. An insightful read of how the SAS works even if you don't believe that the author was as brave and forceful leader as he appears in the book....

Advantages: very humorous story; easy to read in one go Disadvantages: really nothing

Though he is going to marry his long year girlfriend on the next day, he agreed to a bet from a crazy friend of him. Andy as well as his friend Rolf are big fans of the Tube. Very big indeed; you may call them freaky. Think about the craziest supporters of English football clubs and you are even not close. But what about the bet? Andy bet to sail for all 265 tube stations in London - on one day! His bet: monthy ticket for the mass transit, credit card, passport and a ticket for the Eurostar train bringing him to his marriage in Paris, France…
