Advantages: Cheap, 1.7 litre capacity, it boils water Disadvantages: no advanced water filtering
...We seem to get through kettles like theres no tomorrow. No sooner am I getting used to one then something goes wrong with it. For my latest purchase I decided to go for the Onn brand. This wasnt a brand I was familiar with but they were cheap and my local Asda store seemed to be doing a roaring trade in them. Either they were a gem waiting to be unearthed or the rest of the store were as tight as me!!! The kettle is predominantly a dark grey plastic colour with a light grey trim around the base, handle and lid. It looks very tasteful will fit in with most kitchen colour schemes with very little bother.
--Whats in the box--
No surprises inside the box. You get the main kettle, a base which contains the mains cable and an instruction booklet for those of you who dont know how to use a kettle!!
--Setting up--
The setup...

...I have recently purchased a few items by this manufacturer which seems to be making a bit of an impression. Their products also seem only to be available in ASDA stores which tends to lead me towards the conclusion that it might in fact be an ASDA brand, but as of yet I have not been able to verify this.
My most recent purchase was the Onn 1.7 ltr brushed stainless steel kettle. The 1.7 ltr claim can be justified by the fact that it does hold this quantity of water but it is not advisable to use the kettle whilst this full since there is a tendency for the bubbling water to overflow. This is mainly due to the fact that the thermostat which controls the heating element does take a few seconds to react to the boiling water, meaning that it bubbles for longer than perhaps it should. Filling to the 1.5 ltr mark avoids this problem...

Advantages: Good value, easy to operate Disadvantages: Basic, but do you need more?
...So..move into a new house and it's time to replace the old kettle & toaster (white) with new chrome units. This also meant that it was time to ditch the old Kenwood microwave and find a new one (despite the fact the Kenwood worked just fine..). Bowing down to the superior knowledge of she who must be obeyed, we picked up the strangely named Onn, with it's sleek and minimal design (chrome obviously!).
The microwave opens with a handle (I've never liked those button push types as they tend to be a little easy to break if you or others are heavy handed) and the only other external features are 5 buttons (Start/reset, micro/grill, and three different timing buttons). The microwave also comes with a grill rack, glass tray and the usual roller ring.
Once you open the door, a further set of buttons and display panel are revealed, which...
