One of the latest Apple Mac products - equipment and support

Advantages: Superb screen, superior speakers, huge capacity, multiplicity of functions, brilliant photo suite
Disadvantages: A new 'language' to learn and company support not as good as one would expect.

We bought the Apple Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard recently. This cost a little under £1K from PC World (there are other outlets). The main reason why we bought this product is that we wanted to get away from the problems of 'Vista' and other issues with Microsoft Windows. This is a superb computer. The manual provided is not user-friendly for over-50s (like me) as the print is so small; I fail to understand this obsession with instructions being in miniature! Advantages: Not Windows
Disadvantages: Apple are about to release OSX Tiger

Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard

Advantages: Latest Release of Mac OS X; Cheap for those upgrading from Leopard
Disadvantages: No support for PPC processor (which is understandable, however)

I purchased the Mac Box Set (and for those that have Tiger installed/have not got Leopard, this is what you'll need to purchase to get Snow Leopard, priced at around £129/$169. For those that have a PowerPC processor, if you don't already know Snow Leopard works only on Intel processors and I guess is the last part of the transition from PPC to Intel processors for Apple products. The best OS I've ever used

Advantages: Fast, easy to use, runs PPC and Intel binaries, fantastic range of free software
Disadvantages: Can't think of any
